Using your logic the 4GS is still a 3GS since it's the same engine and chasis.
In my book, a new styling change is a new generation. I do understand what you're getting at. I stopped counting and dividing the models a long time ago. Seems all the brands do so much model sharing the lines have become to vague to stick to generational divides.
I like how BMW and Porsche use numerical designations to seperate the models even if there are parts being shared from one model year to the next. The number assignment simply identify the current car.
Also, they couldnt remove the black smart access buttons on the exterior door handles when they were doing the refresh to make it touch sensitive like on other models?
I agree that I like the black button too because the touch buttons always make me do a double take because I am not sure if I activated it. However, to be consistent with the rest of the lineup they should have made the switch
