2013 Lexus LS Unveiling
i always find it funny when i read "dangerous to merge on the highway" with 150-200hp car, when your highways are relatively slow... we drive at 100mph with 90hp cars and nobody dies :-).
Only bad drivers who don't know how to use merging lane to their advantage need more power. But I digress. The new LS looks hot, almost tempted to go one car household and make it a LS.

but from a competitive point of view against other manufacturers, with s550 now at 429hp and 750il at 445hp? yeah, there seems to be a bit of gap
with that said though, personally i think ls with the same drive train at around 380hp is probably ok for the next 2 years
haha i guess it depends on how you look at the word "need". it doesn't need more power from a usage point of view, actually i don't see why any car need more than 250hp

I wanna see at least 400HP. Come on, that's not hard to do!!
Can't wait till tomorrow morning!!!!

Still like what I'm seeing after a day's worth of studying. Everything appears more modern and sporty. Only negatives I can say about the styling is with the F-sport package. It seems Lexus just can't get the bottom, outer corners of the front airdam right. The GS looks like someone pulled up to a parking stump and shaved off the lower trim. There's simply nothing there where there should be a sporty flair. Now with the LS F-sport, the same area is at least filled in, but now frowning. Frown = unhappy = ugly. Air openings similar to the IS-F would have looked better planted.
Last observation. Never liked connected taillights, a la Impreza, Azera, and Odyssey. But Lexus made it look okay here. The trick was making the chrome trim more prominent than the red lense itself.

I don't know why, but I was under the impression that the unveiling of the new LS would be at 8:30 am. Now I reallize it will be an evening unveiling and will be late night in the east coast. More than half a day to wait but I will be up!!
The 460 has plenty of power.....you just have to wait too long for it to arrive. What almost all DOHC engines lack is low end grunt. I'd like a car the lunges forward with a crack of the throttle - not one that spools up when you plant the pedal on the floor. Luxury is all about "right now" not "wait a while".
Seems like everyone around the web is robbing this thread blind and taking credit for the images found here. My advice to the rest of you is post any "rare" images with "hidden" watermarks, as I'm not too pleased with how AutoSpies and a few other sites are making it seem as if they spotted them on their own. Thanks again ydooby and UpSideDown.

Even at the age of 55 or 60 I’m still going to want to brag about torque and hp. Maybe mpg if gas goes up to 7 or 8 dollars.
