Yup, that is going to anger a lot of car enthusiasts. Hell, it already is lol.

Furthermore, I disagree with many who think the Altima is a nice looking car. It looks ugly to me. But again, looks are entirely subjective.

My rankings purely on design for this segment:

1) Mazda 6 - EASILY the best looking. Classy/luxurious/sporty/and aggressive
2) Fusion
3) Accord/Optima - Accord looks very luxurious for this segment, and Optima is very aggressive and still looks very "new" despite being out for a few years

the rest are bleh

I will not disagree with you on your eyesight again. Perish the thought! We all know Honda is a leader in making some of the most beautiful cars around and is a leader in cars only Aston Martin can match.

I wonder if the new V6 Accord will require premium, if it has DI? Cadillac and a few others have gotten by on regular gas, but most seem to need premium.

Dear Lexus: if you could update the next generation of engines to run on regular gas, that would be nice

Only a guess, but I would think regular for the Honda based on the segment it competes in. Acura might stay with premium recommended.

Kind of like Lexus did with the ES and RX 350's until recently. Toyota models with the same engine - regular, and Lexus with the same engine - premium.

^The difference is that the 3.5L in the ES/RX/Camry/Avalon/etc does not have direct injection. The 3GR-FSE in the IS and GS does, and it requires premium fuel because of the higher compression ratio.

I know what you are talking about with Toyota recommending regular for their cars vs. premium for Lexus, but for that engine, it is really a non-issue. A DI engine can be very different.

No DI in the new ES. Same drivetrain as the '07-'12 generation.

Yes, it will be interesting to see what manfacturers do withg their DI engines. More and more of them these days are able to run on regular gas, and the list wll grow as the economy, gas prices and fuel efficiency standars come into play..

Yes, it still remains to be seen if Honda will use that engine in the new Accord. I'm trying to be optimistic. The article does mention that the entire Accord lineup will use the new Earth Dreams engines and they only speak of one Earth Dreams V6, so I'm hopeful.

I'm hoping it is the Accord's new engine, because 310hp for the TL will be pathetic as the competitors had about the same engine output since ~2005.

From what I read, this new ED V6 will debut in the Accord, and next Pilot. The TL should have a higher HP than that.

Where are you getting that the engine is "all new"? It just said new technologies being used. You can add DI to an existing engine via either modifying the head design, or simply adding it in if it was already feature protected on the previous head. "All new" to me means new block design with possibly different bore spacings, etc. The fact that it's still SOHC tells me it's still a J-series V6 which have been around since 1997/1998. Why do an "all new" V6 engine and still keep it SOHC?

Who cares how much HP is in the Accord, its FWD anyway. So less HP is actually better in a FWD setup.

I'll probably be in the market for a econbox 4 cylinder accord in the future.
