New Lexus GX SUV Due This Fall
P.S.
Another thing about the SUV's with blinding HIDs - its not just courtesy to other drivers, it could be a matter of safety for the SUV driver as well. Imagine the scenario where you're driving a tall SUV with HIDs on a narrow twisty mountain road at night - and blind an oncoming driver who in turn crashes into you head on.

Keep in mind that the front of that truck says "Land Cruiser Prado" and the front end of our GX was significantly different from the previous LC Prado.
That said, it certainly looks bug-eyed, although that steering wheel looks nice.

The Caddy HIDs are among the worst. Their low placement is directly in the damn revieww mirror. Yeah it looks great.
I do believe the Hybrid has LEDs?
Och, I strongly suggest investing in LED companies b/c its the future
Leds will be the norm in the next 20 years in car headlights.
MP great post.

And I asked you about 10 posts ago, have you ever been in a LandCruiser Prado, and I still can't get a straight answer. I have, many times, and I will say again, The only thing a Range has on it is the badge and prettier leather. If you don't like the interior design that is fine, design is subjective, but you CANNOT criticize the quality as being less than top class.
Wow, these pictures are pure "ownage", lol.
Look, I dislike the GX very much, mostly for being a "body on frame" SUV with non-independant rear suspension. I realize that this setup is much more rugged and offroad capable, but since 99% of GX buyers will never take it offroad, it doesn't make sense to me.
But as far as refinement and interior quality, its simply silly to compare it to RR or VW. The Lexus is simply far superior in that respect. As far as RR being a true Luxury SUV and GX being a Toyota, well the RR was never historically marketed as a luxury SUV until recent, it was always known for its legendary offroading capability (and legendary unreliability). And the only other true competitors for RR's offroading prowess are the MB G, Jeeps, and yes, the Toyota Landcruiser.

What are you even talking about. It's funny that when you disagree, you immediately accused of not haven ever sat in a car, let alone driven one. Guess what, I have driven a GX, at length. Guess what? My sister owns one of the damn SUVs. You have no basis for which to criticize my "seat time" in any given car. Given that the GX is a rebadged Prado, I guess then "yes", I have driven that car. Not that it matters, the dicussion is revolving around the GX, but thanks for the misleading insinuations.
Maybe you should read closer before touting "ownage". The poster of those pictures didn't even post the right car. He posted some American 4 Runner photos up and called them the Prado. Wrong. And no, it's not "silly" to compare the Prado/GX to those SUVs. I still stand by everything I've said here. The VW has a more sophisticated design, there are more finer details, there's more features, and most of all, it looks better. The GX is luxurious in a same way a top drawer Camry XLE used to be luxurious. The basic design is lacking in thought, but the materials are top drawer.

Basic design lacking in thought? LOL, that would be a perfect description for just about any VW, they are so backwards.
This...honestly...is ridiculous, and you know I respect you FKL. I don't know the last time that I read such an ill-founded comment on this forum.
When I worked for the Lexus Southern Area headquarters one of the vehicles that fell into my lap was a 2007 GX. Prior to that point it seemed to me like the lame duck of the Lexus family- smaller RX was far more successful while the big LX is one of the top premium SUVs. Who cared about the GX? I never gave it a second thought.
At the end of a two month stint, the only reason I gave that truck back was because they MADE me. The thought of stealing it crossed my mind! I had the option of driving an IS350, GS450h, LS460, SC430...anything in the lineup, and the GX was by far my number one choice. After driving it for so long and essentially "owning" it, I can promise you that even despite age, this is still one of THE finest luxury SUVs that has ever been sold.
Your comments about it being a cheap 4Runner knock off are so baseless that it is nearly shocking! Are you familiar with the 4Runners long standing history for off road ability and prowess? Or how trusted and revered the Land Cruiser Prado is in other countries? Judging by your comments about the exterior and interior, have you ever seen one in person, much less sat in one?
Why?
- ROCK SOLID, super smooth and refined chassis. Smaller size gives the GX better road manners than the LX and makes it more maneuverable. This is no X5 on the road but it is far smoother, quieter, and more comfortable than any of the German unibody SUVs and I will stand by that statement until I am blue in the face and yes I have driven ALL of them. I am the type of guy who would prefer a sedan parked next to my BOF SUV...I can appreciate the X5, Q7, and others but they are not necessarily my style. I like driving a BOF SUV.
- Interior is pre-L-Finesse which means everything is extremely high quality, plush, and seamlessly assembled. ML sound is great even despite the age. The center stack and shifter are definitely not the most beautiful but work well and have artful and well thought out details. The entire interior is beautifully crafted, comfortable, and luxurious.
Your comment about HIDs is laughable. Yes, it's ridiculous that Lexus doesn't offer them and they most definitely should, but to say the GX isn't a Lexus because of it is pure hilarity.

And MP, I respect everything you said. I hope I can garner at least half of that backL

SHOW ME THE PROOF TO BACK UP THAT STATEMETN PLEASE.
Otherwise I demand a clarification.
This is the original post from me without any editing...
Are you again pulling ****s out of you know what like you did with the IS F? Have you ever BEEN inside a GX?

Beside the A/C vent location on the center stack I really don't see any similarities between the GX and 4Runner....
As for GX interior not up to Lexus standards? IT HAS BETTER MATERIAL THAN THE RX FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
I have to give you credit for your VW/Audi knowledge but you are not even close to it when it comes to Lexus...
