LS430 vs LS460
So when was the last time you heard someone say while they're driving down the road going 70mph... "Wow the seat controls of this car are really neat and they look like a work of art!"
Seriously? Do you really think most people are concerned with how the controls look while they're driving? I've had a lot long distance seat time in the LS430 and LS460 including 600hL. The controls of the LS460's seats are very intuitive and easy to use without having to look down at the controls.
I am betting you if you put someone behind the wheel blind folded in an LS430 or LS460, chances are people will find the simplicity and usability of the controls a lot more easier to use than the 430's. Driver ergonomics and experience are key here, aesthetics are secondary.

I think most will agree that the 430 is notch about the 460...The 460 is very good though.

What a way to bring up an old thread. Just compare the interiors of the LS430 and 460 and the 430 wins hands down. Just look at the seats and the controls on the seats, the 430 just looks richer and more elegant. Looking at the leather, there seems to be more pieces of leather stitched together on the 430. Also the door panels are a little more complex on the 430...
My thoughts on the 460 are not a knock on it. I just think the 430 is a bit better.
i do see the difference. hm.. never noticed that. it's been a while i've sat on ls460.

Gen 3 - 2001-2005

Gen 4- 2007-Current

For one thing I have noticed, the LS460 power seat control are a little more noisy (by a small margin) then the LS430. Again, my experience with the 460 is limited compared to the 430.

For sure. When you open the door, you want elegance, the look, the feel, the sound all are important. Toyota has cost cut the painted arrows out of most Toyota's but they still have them on all Lexus models. It completes the interior when all of the details are done right. Just look at the large vertical plastic separation gap on the center console on the 460. Simply did not exist on the 430.

I am going to whip the camera out and do some side by side pics, the 600 is just miles ahead of the 430.
this debate will never end. some people always prefer older more conservative design. some people like previous S over current S. and 90's 7 series is the best looking flagship ever to me.
i like both. but i guess 430 has an edge on the interior quality.

Those interior pics from the back seat illustrate something I noticed when comparing the two cars: the 430 center console appears narrower and the 430 seats feel wider. Both cars were great and I could have bought either, but I felt the 430 was a better fit for our handicap needs. That 460 power trunk lid almost won me over, though, when it comes to loading / unloading a wheelchair.

everything about the 430 interior screams 90s to me. from the fact that there is a cut out for the passenger airbag, to the steering wheel design, to the "brown" everything in there. I for one like the use of metallic plastics in lexus cars. anyways, style wise, the 460 wins, though I might believe that the 430 quality was better
