I was considering a LS460 to replace my old LS430..I still like the LS430 eventhough it is old it still run great, I spend 0 dollar on repair for past 4 years and it still run like its new. Only thing broke was back up camara and i think that was it. I sat in LS460 and play with it many of time I just don't know if it worth the extra 60k for an upgrade. I just don't see THAT much of improvement over the 430.. for now I'll just keep the 430 and keep it till it fall apart.. hopefully soon..
For the time, each has their appeal, I don't particularly see the age grouping although one does find a mature crowd looking at the higher line barges. If it were an old persons car, the JDM wouldn't have such a following of goodies for it. That speaks well that there is a younger demand and not just there but has developed stateside. It would have been interesting to hear internal discussions from the CA design group when the 460 was under development. Wondering what JDM and stateside buyers of this wanted in their upcoming flagship sedan.
Talk Town Car or Buick, I see a specific aimed market for these. The S and 7 series of decades back were definitely aimed at a mature crowd. Look at them in the late 70's and through mid 80's...ugh. Toyota is taking a lead from them when the LS was in planning. So now that they have developed the market, they can refine it as wee see in the 460.
The 430 doesn't draw me but it is a nicely modded car all around. The 460 from my view is
would u want 2010 ls460 or 2005 ls 430?? please,,, i cant believe this tread is still alive,,,
Personally I would would take a gently used LS430 over a brand new 460, the fact that this thread is still alive points to either how good the Lexus LS430 was or how unsure most LS460 fans are standing behind the product.
The general consensus is that the current GS/LX/RX/SC/IS models were better than the models they replaced, and I agree with this. But with the LS and now perhaps the GX, which one is better isn't so clear.
I think the LS460 is a superb car, I just don't think it is the class leading flagship that the LS430 was.

Loved it. Loved it better than the LS430 in every way. Looks, performance, technology, and road presence.
Yes, the LS430 was great for what it provided, which has been done before (a luxo-sedan cruiser that mimicked other makes). The LS460(L) and LS600hL surpasses it for how it further evolved the LS lineage as a leader in the automotive industry (that didn't mimic anyone, but ultimately stood as a benchmark above the rest).

i am sorry, but i think you should really stop generalizing your OWN personal comments as comments from everyone. you can express your opinions and that's totally fine, but "The general consensus is that the current GS/LX/RX/SC/IS models were better than the models they replaced", unless you have real proof, that doesn't mean crap
and this thread is alive because there are always going to be people preferring one over the other. same with 2gs vs 3gs, some people think one is better. one can always create a thread and let the discussion go on forever
i read this thread all along i am not even going to say much about this topic because it's at the point of agree to disagree, which is totally fine with me.
And on that post above I say gents this thread has come to an impasse. The old folk in the road where we must go our separate way and keep it moving, seriously there is nothing left to say but endless talking points with no resolution in sight. BTW this thread was a good read.
