2009 Nissan Maxima
'87 owner here. Although I like the piggy-bank maxima, I can't believe how flimsy their door closes compared to my old maxima
I was thinking more along the lines of the early SRT dodges from 2003 and on. But I do see the pontiac resemblence as well.
Nissan is just known for making ugly cars. They have GOT to do away with those silly-*** tail lights on their cars. I mean seriously? How cheap do Chrome Altezza lights look on a vehicle??? I wouldnt even put those on a Civic if I had one...very degrading.

I noticed that too actually. I dont think its that they are sagging, i think its more along the lines of the back looking heavier than the front. The rear just has much more to it than the front does.
Can't help it esp. when they released so many cars 5 years ago and they ALL need a redesign
2002 Altima
2003 Murano, G35, FX
2004 Maxima, Pathfinder.
bah I forgot the rest of the lineup's release date.
Former '97 SE auto owner here!! I loved that car to death and I hated selling it. There was absolutely no problems with it, not a single thing in the 8 years and 75k miles we had it since brand new.
I hope they do good with this, I was so disappointed with the interior with the newest ones.

The altima is blowin' the maxima out of the water as of lately... which is stupid considering the maxima is supposed to be the flagship.
I had a 88 and 97, and I'd say I'm now shamed to claim that, having seen what direction Nissan has gone in... ( down... waaaaaaaay down )

One problem may be that the Altima is now in what used to be the Maxima's segment. That alienates the Maxima in a somewhat unusual segment that is above the staple family sedans and under the entry level luxury sedans.
Years ago you might compare a Maxima to an Accord but now you compare the Accord to the Altima.

From the rear, the current gen Maxima looks similar to the Lexus GS. Not as nice looking, IMO, but a similar shape.
I had 3 Maxima SE's back to back to back and was happy with all of them. They offered a lot for the money at the time, and all were bullet proof.

2009 Maxima
Following the release of several official teasers earlier this week, new images of the 2009 Nissan Maxima have surfacing revealing the car in complete detail. Scheduled to be unveiled at this week’s New York Auto Show, Nissan’s seventh generation Maxima showcases a completely new look for the volume seller and a marked difference to the styling of Infiniti’s G35 sedan, which has been criticized of late for looking too similar to its Nissan sibling.
The new sedan will once again benefit from Nissan’s award winning VQ series of V6 engines but an all-new diesel powerplant is expected to debut towards the end of the decade. In addition to the new diesel mill, a hybrid version based on Toyota’s Synergy drive will also be available.

SAAB perhaps

I think the older ones look better.
