Oh boy, I pray they make this right. I would so trade my current one in, if done correct. The current generation has really killed the Maxima community and aftermarket. It pains me to see what they done. 4DSC is obviously gone, but I would like to see a little bit of that back.

It seems to have a nice profile, but I can tell I am going to hate the rear end.

Best handling, IMO, are the 89-94 Maximas.

Best looking, the 97-99 Maximas.

Anything after, they compensated for the ugliness/weight with more hp.

I had 2 1989 SE 5MTs. My dad still has his 95 SE 5MT, my brother has a kitted 97 SE 5MT.

Tekknikal <-- I couldn't agree more. I may look into the G35 6MT for a next car.

it looks like it might be a little better than the current, but it's still too big and chunky. i guess that's the market they're after. the altima seems to have grown into the size of hte previous max's. the rear end still looks fat and droopy.
my favorite was the 02. small body, but it had the 3.5 and was avaailable with a 6 speed manual.

I don't know... I used to drive the 1994 and 2001 models (both AT) and 2001 drove much better (sportier) than the 1994. The current-gen has excellent body control (taut but not punishing) - better body control, I would say than my GS430 (with stock spring/shock combo or with Eibach/Bilstein Sport combo). I was very impressed when I drove that car. Of course, this car is not made to burn the back roads or your local autocross course, but it holds the road better than the older ones, IMO.

The one thing I don't like in these pics is the huge front and rear overhangs. It does not look good and usually does not ride well and handle well.

I hope it doesn't look like the Altima like the Current Maxima do. I liked the 2002-2003 Maxima.

The new Max is supposed to incorporate some cues from the GT-R and be a bit more angular than the out-going model. If you look at the front you can almost see the GT-R influence and the flanks seem more squarish than the current car.

It looks like minor evolution of the current one which Nissan seems to be doing a lot of lately.

They need to start really redesigning their cars.
