It's not all about the track times. New Evo and STI have grown up and are much more solid cars that can be daily drivers as well, something old ones couldn't, yet they still perform almost on the same level as previous generation. New STI has advantaghe because its a hatch so the weigth is the same as old sedan but new EVO really kept with the pack till the very end. I am all in favor of new STI and EVO!

i dislike the new versions of both. htey have lost their entire appeal. they were not meant for mass consumption in teh beginning. the best part about them was when they were econobox bodies stuffed with overengineered, overachieving drivetrains.

they still are econoboxes with overengineered, overachieving drivetrains.

unless you consider an STI or a Evo a luxury car...

yeah i consider them luxury cars; i'm driving around in an LS...

they are far from the econoboxes that they started out as; compared to their origins, they almost are luxury cars. that's their problem. i don't want one just because of that. i want the feel, i want the noise, i want to know when i run over a piece of gravel when i drive a car like that.

Most people don't. They have to sell the car to the masses. If you want a car like that buy a used EVO IX or STI and strip it.
Complain enough and they'll make a stripped down version. Personally I think it'll make a nice quick daily driver and still be able to perform on the track. I guess I'm getting old.

you're absolutely right, i know this. economics and trying to make a profit...
it still irks me though. too bad they can't make money on their other cars and keep the soul in their flagships.

Have no fear, I'm sure Mitsu will bring a stripped version (for a higher price tag). I've never understood why an M3 CSL costs more than an M3. It's got less stuff inside, unless you did drastic weight loss by using lighter materials a lightweight version should never cost more, take it from the tC Tuner Spec.

yup, that is silly. i want a stripped version with steel wheels, cloth seats, manual transmission, no radio, crank windows! they should be able to do that for less than $30k!
