New Supra
Anyone got the latest news on the possibility of an MKV??
I could see a twin-turbo JZ being around 50k, but an uptuned 2GR-FSE at around 300hp seems more likely to me, which would put the base at (my guess) $35k.

Toyota has showed a Hybrid concept as a possible new sports car but that would be a horrible power plant for a high performance sports car like a Supra because of weight, batteries running out during track/high speed runs etc. They may go with a sports car with a version of the IS350 v-6 engine in it to reduce costs but it is not going to be the high potential powerhouse like the last Supra was and will not be seriously competitive to Corvettes, 911's, Skylines, Ferraris, etc. Toyota may end up doing a affordable rwd v-6 sports car but I doubt it will be called the Supra or be a legitimate replacement for the last Supra.
We are not going to get another indestructable highly tunable cast iron twin turbo inline six powered Supra that can outperform Corvettes, Porsches, Skylines, Ferraris, etc because it will be too expensive and that engine is not being made any more. The only hope is that if Toyota partners with Subaru the flat six in Subaru lineup could be turbocharged and made into a very good powerplant for a new Supra replacement. If you want a real high performance sports car from Toyota in the future then I think the Lexus LFA is your only real option but it is going to be out of reach for most enthusiasts. If Toyota was serious about a new Supra they would have built one by now.
