Default Gas

Hey was up guys, listen Im qurious .i was up at MOROSO MOTOR SPORTS PARK like 2 weekends ago an i was looking at the gas pumps, now one of then said something like 100 octane urn leaded an the other said something like 115-120 leaded, now in our manuels that come with our cars say unleaded fuel only what would happen if i put leaded in my car, cuz as far as i have been told is that the higher octane the better. What is the limit on the octane if any?

Highest octane is not always better. Im not sure at which octane it becomes leaded, but you can only use unleaded in your car if it has a catalytic converter. Anything over 100 octane probably wont do anything to an NA car btw.

I was always told that the higher the octane the better your car will drive. Good for the engine or something like that.

Unleaded Fuel Only means... Unleaded Fuel ONLY

I wouldn't put leaded into your car, who knows what could happen.

My little brother put diesel fuel in one of his bikes by mistake once, can't remember whether it was his KX100 (two-stroke) or his XR80 (four-stroke), but I do know he said it ran faster than it ever had before, and then it just died on him. They drained the remaining fuel and put the right kind back in and luckily it still ran ok. But yeah, the point is every vehicle is engineered to run of a certain type of fuel, and other kinds may work for a bit, but it usually won't run like it should for long that way. Oh, interesting fact, Caravans are designed to run of either unleaded or some sort of gasohol mix (don't remember specifics, but it says on the gas lid or something).

The octane rating of fuel is the amount of compression the fuel can withstand before detonation. So a higher octane fuel can be compressed more without unintentionally firing the cylinder. Only useful if you have a high compression engine.
110 low lead is jet fuel and will destroy your engine.
