Throttle body cleaning
I posted this in the SC section and no one responded to it so I'll just ask the question here. Can I use the instructions on how to clean the throttle body for the SC400/LS400 on the SC300?? My throttle is completely clogged up and I'm wasting gas like crazy trying to get the engine to speed up. I got the cleaner... now all I need to know is if its the same procedure to clean the I6 as it is the V8s. If not, is there another DIY throttle body cleaning for the SC300?
Lextreme provides very good instructions on how to do it yourself. The directions on throttle body cleaning are for LS400. They shouldn't be that much different for an SC. I hope this helps.

Well, the actual cleaning isnt too hard. But you will have to remove the throttle body. If you need help on that, check out this thread:

Just do steps #1 - 6
Have fun, its not too hard, its actually kinda fun. Also, while you've got the TB off, id recommend doing your plugs/wires

Thanks. The reason I want to clean the throttle body is 1). The car feels sluggish and 2). The accelerator jams up on stops sometimes. I've searched this problem and found out the accelerator jams up when the throttle body is gummed up. The car had a tune-up done just before I bought it (3 days ago). The only thing needed to be done to the engine is the throttle body. Other than that it seems perfect. My driver seat is #%%# up though. It makes it look like I got the car from a junkyard and the sucky thing is that the dealer didnt even reduce any money because the car was very good engine wise/mechanically.

Try using BG44K fuel system cleaner, too, to help KEEP it clean. Comes in a red-and-black can. You can't get this stuff in drug stores or regular auto parts shops...usually only at repair shops. For some reason ( I don't know why ) it's not sold over-the-counter to the general public....but it is GOOD stuff.
