Things to expect- 3.5L V-6 with 270HP/285 lb-ft of torque and a 5AT with sequential shift. It'll be LS430 sized with options like Xenon headlights, rear reclining seats and power sunshades. It will remain FWD and on a stretched Camry chassis, but might offer AWD.

That's all we know for now.

Thanks for the insider info. I still wish they could've kept the more conservative and classy look. The new look in pic isn't too bad, but it just doesn't look like a flagship (that is, until the crown arrives).

I like the new Avalon in that pic. It looks stately and expensive IMO. I really wish they would bring the Crown Majesta to the US and sell it as a Lexus.

Yeh, the solara interior is nice. My friend picked it over the accord. The shifter looks great, and so does the console.
So did my brother.

3.5L and 270 HP for an Avalon? I paid almost $44K for I-6 and 220 HP.

I actually think this new Avalon looks good from the photos that were posted.

I'm not a huge fan of the current car - but this new one might deserve a look over an ES330 if size/space ever becomes a concern for me.

I echo your thoughts.

I agree with the comments that this new avalon looks like parent of the Prius.

I don't know but to me it looks pretty much like this http://www.toyota.de/showroom/avensis_2003/gallery.html

Avensis is there to fight Mazda6, A4, Passat ...
***** load of options are offered in it. It is a lux Toyota in Europe.

You also got RWD though, as well as some of the top luxury goodies and quality on the market. I'd choose the 220HP I6 GS300 over a FWD 270HP Avalon.

We know how much potential the i6 has, can't say that for the v6 though

Is it just me...or does the new Avalon look kind of like the new GS? Are they sharing Chassis? Windows....etc?

Also...just FYI, HP has been upped to 280 now, not 270.
