OK I was wondering what year model that is - looks like mid 80s or so... but then I typed Toyota Century into google and saw a link to the Toyota website. Apparently they still make this car and it really doesn't look much different from the one in the pics.
This is bar-none THE most dated looking car I've ever seen made today... I thought some of the Bentley models looked a little dated but man this almost seems like an april fools joke??
Wikipedia says it sells for over 90 thousand US dollars, and it looks like this???

LMAO...
The V12 engine does sound interesting, though... I hope it's primarily aluminum or it'll sure be heavy.

The model on the link i posted is the latest model!! On the toyota website they say the design hasen't changed much since its launch in 1967!!.As for style i'd give it a 0 but id say with that V12 and the look of that interiour,it would be an extreemly silent ride.
What's so bad with it looking a little outdated? I don't know about mid 80's, but it looks like maybe it is from the mid to late 90's. I think it still looks amazing other than the ugly rims. The car itself is amazing too in everyway.
This is the car car you drive if you are a "baller" in Japan and Asia.

Apart from the styleing i can see nothing wrong with this car.Its styleing remains this way to be deciptive.I would imagine with a 5 litre V12 it would out proform most on japanese roads. And with that interior

That interior reminds me of a cross between a 1978 Buick/Cadillac and an early 90s Ford Econoline conversion van with a few somewhat modern Lexus parts bin stuff thrown in - like I recognize the HVAC controls and power mirror selector switch from my 99 GS400 - an 8 year old car, and ironically those parts are the most modern looking parts in there.
Throwing some extra wood, a few old lexus parts bin parts, and the Toyota name into what is otherwise a 20 year old interior just doesn't fly for 90 grand unless you really are that nostolgic. I wonder if the chassis and suspension is as dated as well?
And those wheels? Steel bumpers???
This must be an elaborate joke that I'm not in on.

The styleing is actually dated to the 1967 model.Being a toyota as you know the build quility and mechanical runnings of this car would be far superiour to any other. The styleing is going on the same theme as the LS400."Iorn fist in a velvet glove"A loyel folowing. So much that its survived with the same design 40 years.!!!
Some people prefer older classic cars because they're so easy and cheap to work on, but I'm going to step out on a limb and say any car costing 90-100 grand with a V12 motor is neither of the above when it comes to service work, whether the majority of the design is still out of the 60s, or not.
OK, so it doesn't cost as much as I thought... It's still as ugly as it was when I first looked at it though. Even the interior design (except for the wood trim) looks reminiscent of a Chevy station wagon my dad had 20 years ago.
Wow, I just read that the Century was actually updated in 1997 - so it hasn't gone unchanged - they just apparently though that was a good look for it to continue with.
Also, that V12 motor only makes 280hp and 350 ft-lb of torque. lol... ironic that their own IS with half as many cylinders and 1/3rd the price makes more peak power.
