I never know quite what to make of the Avalon. It's sorta the wannabe Lexus. The annoying little brother of the ES if you will

Your right. I dont know what to make of that car. I guess more pictures would help. It kinda looks like a bigger Prius because of that hatchback design, and those windows remind me of the new Maxima. But what gets me the most is the fact that they are posting 270 hp out of a 3.5L engine. Hmmm...245hp in the upcoming GS300/330 and 225/230hp in the Camry/ES330/RX330. Something isnt right here. But im going to guess the Avalon's numbers are incorrect.

Thats just some guys guess at what it will look like. Hopefully it'll look better than the rendition though. =/This artist's sketch gives an idea of what this new, longer Avalon will look like when it is introduced for the 2005 model year.

If you ask me, it cant come soon enough. And it wouldnt be hard to look better than the current Avalon. I used to be able to say that Toyota made no real ugly cars, but not anymore... The current shape Avalon has to be one of the ugliest cars on the road today! Urrgh!

Ok, i've had a bit of a look and it appears that we lucked out with the current Avalon (thought it was designed in America??). We get this Hyundai-wanna-be abomination:
Why don't they just bring the Toyota Crown over. If they don't think it's big enough for the American market, just make a LWB version, it looks so much better than the Avalon.

Agreed...and I liked the original 1995 Avalon even more. This 2005 prototype is awful......too much Nissan and Saturn Ion in it....and yes, THEY are ugly.Originally posted by lexusk8

Toyota's styling, in general, has gone steadily downhill for the last 10 years. The only real exceptions have been the IS300, both exterior / interior, and the current ES300 / 330's interior, which is really classy.
I had a blue iris pearl 1995 Celica, which was beautiful. The 2000 Celica ended up looking like a little kid's Hot Wheels car....and about the same size.
