It was $3.30-$3.50 or so till the “war”. The prices of everything has risen since it’s all related to oil.

I don't know why Atlanta is stuck on stupid gas prices. Up the highway a hundred miles here in Chattanooga Sam's gas is $3.13 for regular and $3.75 for premium. Georgia has been begging for decades for our water too... but I digress.

Edit: Just checked Costco gas in Atlanta Cumberland Mall. Premium $4.19. Atlanta on Peachtree $4.39 premium. Costco is top tier gas too. Maybe $5 premium in Atlanta is more about choice of the buyer.

Not really in these urban downtown locations. You never see anybody in them and they just have the smallest little store that really just sells bottles of soda. This isn’t like a big convenience store or a 7-11.

Inner city areas compensate for that, the corner stores are the main stores for the area in many cases

Depends on what you consider "gouging". Station owners have to price gas at the pump based on what they have to pay for it wholesale...and their other expenses. If they don't recover their own expenses and make a profit, they can't stay in business.

Some states, BTW, have a hotline that goes to the Attorney General's office one can call if a station is suspected of excessive pricing or gouging. If they get enough calls, they investigate.

Yes, the war is one factor, but there are also others. We are in the season now of peak demand, many people taking summer driving-vacations, and conversion from winter to summer gasoline-blends.

IMHO, you've got to be pretty doggone hungry to eat most of the junk-food they sell in the typical Gas-Mart. Most of it is pure sugar, salt, fat, or harmful substances.

My wife filled up the Q7 this morning. Costco premium is down to $5.30. But she was really low, so it still wound up at $103.60.

Not a good idea, although I know some people are doing it. Letting the gas level in the tank drop too low, besides the obvious risk of running out, can lead to fuel-system and injector-problems from dirt, water, and other contaminants in the bottom of the tank getting into the fuel lines. Plug up the injectors, and you have drivability problems.

Oh I'm well aware. It wasn't critically low. We got the <50 mile remaining warning yesterday and decided to wait until she was headed out in the direction of Costco today.

We typically put 17.5-19 gallons in our 22.5 gallon tank, today was 19.55 gallons.

There ARE things that drivers CAN do to avoid the snacks at the gas station….one of the solutions is to drive an electric vehicle and charge at home…
