With all of the complaining about the gas prices, an interesting question is..............Have any of you actually taken steps with your vehicle to REDUCE your fuel consumption? We may not be able to control prices at the pump, but, in many cases, we CAN adjust our driving habits.
No and I don't care. I didn't care about changing/reducing driving habits when it was this high a couple years back, either.
A couple of observations, 1) I love my PHEV coupled with being retired and hence not a long commute but the majority of my driving is within a 40-50 mile round trip the results have been really good. Recently driven over 1700 miles on a1/3rd of a tank.
2) I don’t think one can argue that this is indeed a self inflicted wound. Spent a third of my career trading commodities and oil is a global commodity for sure. Oil companies certainly use the geo political backdrop to raise prices quickly and reduce them at a much slower pace. Also trying to trade oil when the amount of information is both overwhelming and, for the most part, confusing is challenging. Volatility is being stretched because of, in the course of one day a deal is more or less done to both sides firing on each other. My guess is we may have seen the high in gas prices but with all the noise I wouldn’t be short oil today. The one thing I would be sure of is that we will see a lot of fluctuations in gas prices for a while.
I love our PHEV, its too bad that more companies haven't embraced them...but I do understand they are complex and that probably a better strategy overall is traditional hybrid or full EV.
if there were no tariff, you’d see more plug-in hybrids. and you would definitely see more if there was still a incentive the vast majority of the comp components for plug-in, hybrids or originate from China, many Toyotas use Chinese parts

GM did invest in PHEVs. Buick has 3 different plug in hybrids in China, one such model has a range of 1000 miles. Tariffs are what is preventing PHEVs in the United States.

No, tariffs are not the problem...never were. PHEVs have low enough emissions and high enough gas mileage that they could easily sell here with no problem. Other vehicles, subject to tariffs, that are not built in the U.S. still manage to sell here. The problem is a false perception of the Buick market in the U.S., at least partly based on an outdated concept of Buick being a Geezer-brand, which has significantly changed since the Encore, Encore GX, and Envista were introduced. The Korean-built Envista, in particular, with its looks, is attracting a younger buyer-base.....although it needs more of a drivetrain and an AWD option that it lacks.

The Buicks sold in the US are trash compared to the higher end stuff by Buick in China. There is no comparison to what the Chinese consumer has access to.
tariffs are absolutely the reason why a 3 row Buick plug in crossover is banned from the US

Well, it's true that the choice of Buicks in the U.S. is very limited compared to China, but that is no reason to call them trash. The brand is clearly GM's most reliable in surveys, and, despite having many of the same parts and components, regularly outdoes sister-divisions Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac in that department.

Then explain why the Korean-built Encore GX and Envista are doing so well, despite being subject to tariffs on Korean-made vehicles, and why Korean-built Hyundais and Kias, also subject to tariffs, still sell here in large numbers.

It’s like a whole different world in China for Buick owners
even the Chinese Encore GX has a 4 cylinder engine lol

Korean built Buick don’t have 100% tariffs like a PHEV from China does
Of course it is. What else is new?....... I've complained about that for years.
The Chinese auto industry has surpassed the US auto industry. The auto industry in the US is in severe decline from a manufacturing perspective. People don’t care for Made in the USA cars anymore, you yourself won’t even buy a made in the USA car

Come on. I never said I wouldn't buy a U.S- made car. My last 3 vehicles before rhe Encore GX were built in the U.S. ...2 of them with UAW labor, What I have said, several times, (and I stll say) is that I'd prefer the small GM crossovers to be UAW-built in The U.S., but I have little or no problem with them being made in South Korea, since the country is a close U.S. ally. And, at least, there they are also Union-built, so plant-workers get treated and paid fairly. What's more, that Korean plant has a reputation for decent, if not necessarily the best, quality control.

Not true at all. There are numerous examples, but, particularly, the continuing demand for the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport. In my area, they multiply like rabbits.
