All my Jaguars, Land Rovers and Range Rovers have actually been among the most reliable cars I've personally owned. With that said, there's a recall out today to address an issue with the DC-DC converter on models with the mild hybrid causing problems with the 12v system. Still unclear if it's an OTA fix or whether a trip to the dealer will be required.

These DC-DC converter issues are astounding to me.....so many brands just can't seem to get such a simple thing right
The whole “this car is slightly higher or lower ranked than the other” doesn’t concern me. Having gone from Lexus to MB and Chrysler and being by and large similarly satisfied it doesn’t really concern me. I lease also.
exactly right. the whole ‘number of problems per 100 cars’ is pretty ridiculous. if one car is 150 and another 100, that means they have an average of HALF A PROBLEM more per car, but 150 vs 100 sounds so much worse.
Putting initial reaction over radical designs aside, from the outside definitely the S class. It looks relatively conservative and elegant, I just hope the grille isn't made of LEDs and doesn't light up at night. The BMW exterior styling is ridiculous from every angle, maybe a set of normal looking wheels could help the side and rear, but there is no saving that ugly face.
On the inside, it's hard to say which one is uglier, but functionally the 7 series is better. As much as I love traditional gauges, I've always had an issue with them - I am tall, and I like sporty driving position with the steering wheel dropped all the way down, so in every car the steering wheel blocks the view of the top part of the gauge cluster for me. I absolutely love the HUD feature, and the split dash in the new 7 series is very ugly but is probably going to be very functional. Certainly miss the i-drive ****, it has been the best infotainment interface for nearly two decades, don't know why they are doing away with it for a greasy touch screen. Even my BMW motorcycle has it's own implementation of the i-drive rotary **** on the handlebar, I absolutely love it.
They have several good looking wheel options for that car, at least they did for the pre LCI.
I don’t think it’s ugly, the pre refresh was ugly but both are big and stand out and get attention which isn’t a bad thing. It’s selling very well so it worked for them.
The interior though is just it a layout that I like at all. I want a traditional dash layout. That new BMW dash reminds me of an old Prius, gimmicky…awkward..

It's ugly no doubt, I much prefer a traditional dash but with a nice HUD that shows relevant info and turn signals.
I really like the look of some of the RRs but can't bring myself to take the chance. I say that based on historic reported reliability issues (and my resultant bias, whether unfounded or not).
I like both the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport.
My neighbor has a RR. It's a great looking SUV, except his is ALL black. Black wheels, black window tint and black paint. IMO the look doesn't do it any favors. RR offers some great looking color and wheel combinations which IMO accent it better.
It may look like a downgrade and not "right image" for some but I don't mind going with option 3 for an M5 or I5 M60 with the right package/dark color to wipe out the chrome. The more I look at it the more I like. I think the front light design looks very much like the 5th gen 5 - the best looking generation IMO.

Yeah people love that murdered out look, its not my thing either.

The new 5 is very cheap feeling inside, I would go down to an E Class or a GLE before I did that for that reason, but I don't dislike the current gen 5.
This interior is coming for it very shortly too though

How much do I keep track of BMWs? Wasn't aware of the new one coming up for 5 as well. Lol. Definitely not a good choice to down grade.
