Every time I see a pre LCI 7 i can't help but stare because it has lots of presence although not very attractive. The S is elegant but it just doesn't stand out.
From pictures, I think I'd take the 7 because it just looks more interesting from the outside.
I chose the S mostly because I prefer MB over BMW in general. I agree re the interiors, neither would draw me in. A buddy just picked up a '26 EQS and although it's a bit different, I didn't love the interior of that one either.
I think the LCI 7 is an improvement outside, and a huge downgrade inside. The S Class I think is a big upgrade inside, and a downgrade outside. I think the stars everywhere on the S Class are garish and over the top. Choosing between the two I would choose the S Class though for the interior alone. If you put the pre-LCI interior in the LCI exterior 7, I would probably give that a whirl.
Honestly don't know what I will get next time. Might try a Range Rover which for now are still understated and elegant.

The RR reliability scares me. Hopefully the LCI will be better.
i thought RR ranks lower than MB and Chrysler. RR look cool but i can't get myself to own one. just not brave enough
The whole “this car is slightly higher or lower ranked than the other” doesn’t concern me. Having gone from Lexus to MB and Chrysler and being by and large similarly satisfied it doesn’t really concern me. I lease also.

All the other landrover products dont entice me except for the big boy Range Rover. I think it has a lot of presence and actually in my head ranks just as high as the S class. It's like the S class of SUVs, which makes sense since they are priced about the same.
