There actually generational S class owners, who have been getting the next generation of S class time after time. The brand and the model has so much heritage, although the latest model is may not attract the traditional S class buyer. Too bad Lexus started so strong with the LS and completely dropped the ball. Yep lots of people just get another S Class. It’s one of the most loyal customer bases in the industry. I’m on my second one, but I don’t know that I’m going to keep driving them forever.
I actually like what they did with the night package on my generation S class. Black chrome lower trim and gloss black window surrounds but keeps the chrome grille a the hood ornament. I would have gotten one of those if the right car had it.

The S class has absolutely earned their loyalty. Hard to think of another car that has been so consistent to its flagship purpose, and consistently setting the benchmark in its class.Originally Posted by SW17LS

There's just unwavering authority in everything an S-class does.
if all flagship sedans disappeared the S-Class would still be around.
Lol @SW17LS I like the Maybach, love the 2 tone paint and dish rims... I saw one yesterday. Not quite Bentley level but close.

and yet, if you compare an s-class (even maybach) with a bentley, they're ENTIRELY different... the s-class is actually still very understated and relatively 'plain' compared to a bentley or rolls.Originally Posted by AJT123

check out this video...
Latest MB design, including Maybach S Class has been getting pretty gaudy. Any part of the vehicle that is understated is coming from the S class portion. The Maybach with its chrome rims, Chrome "M's" everywhere, 2 tone, are anything but.

Just came across a video saying Mercedes is discontinuing EQS in the USA because there us no demand? And then they are bringing the electric van, as if they havent learned their lesson.
I actually think 2 tone paint with the dark paint on the bottom half can look pretty good, quite a few of the pre-BMW RR's I remember look quite elegant like that.
But somehow, when they reverse that with the dark paint on top, I have never seen one that I like ...

Two tone with the lower cladding is different than up at the character line like MB and BMW are doing.Originally Posted by Och

The next generation S Class will have an EV variant that looks very similar. The issue with the EQS is not the EV drivetrain its the design of the car.Originally Posted by Och

40% of all 7 Series sold are the i7, the same or similar look is the right way to go vs the blob like strange EQS. Almost every 7 I see on the road here is the i7.

Just saying two tone isn't new, and isn't bad. Maybachs are definitely in your face polarizing, definitely look different to their mortal Merdeces siblings.Originally Posted by SW17LS

What's an i7, is it full electric or hybrid? I've stopped caring about BMW since they've turned so ugly, haven't been up to their latest models. I've been seeing a lot of 760is lately, was impressed how well the V12 is selling, and then I learned it is now a V8 with a 60i moniker.Originally Posted by SW17LS

Either way, the Mercedes EQS design is horrible, looks like a civic and a minivan had a baby.
