If politics are ignored then eventually you will always see real world consequences. Not talking about it always leads to more kinetic methods of discourse but it is way easier to just ignore it in most cases.

That doesn't mean every forum has to allow political discussions. We're just talking about cars here not trying to save the world.

Well this change and more relaxed and open and fun forum lasted all of 1 week. That Chinese EV thread just got closed even though we were all courteous and we spoke of some of the pitfalls of Chinese EVs and concerns. I'm going to start a forum and only good little children will be allowed to post.

Oh... So it didn't go political to the point a mod asked for the politics to stop?

thread starter here is talking about swear words, yes, we still allow them as long as they are not directed to other members. We have repeated many times now : no politics, and no personal attack, you must have missed the word idiot used.
. We banned political discussion in the past because if we don’t rein it in, it will turn uglier and uglier, never fails. New admin now, we try to relax it a bit, we don’t automatically remove posts with the mere mention of a politician’s name as before., If they didn’t trigger a political response, which they often do from experience, we can let it go, but we will not be relaxing political discussions much further than that. The pitfalls and concerns are already discussed and allowed, and I think we all understand what they are already, but this is car chat, it should be focused on the cars themselves, not on back and forth bickering repeating the same points of political nature.

I used to use these words a lot since elementary school. I thought it was fun/cool until one day a parent heard me cursing. She didn't say anything but her look got me think about it for some time. But it didn't stop me from saying them. I continued using these words until grad school when I got that similar look from my roommate. Lol. I still use it here and there but not as often.

I am still surprised to have worked at a blood bank, late 00s-early 10s, then do varied customer service, then got myself a job that did not exist at a hospital in a lab drawing blood in 24, and hear f- bombs and other questionable language used without hesitation amongst staff/staff interacting with public.
