My issue is that the S Class, and a Mercedes in general, has always been restrained in terms of its prestige. That simple little three pointed star used to say more when it was just there on the hood...not plastered all over the place. Its obscene. Real prestige speaks quietly.
For me the Range Rover is a good example. It's a simple but elegant design that stands out more because of it than something with unnecessary styling trim etc. added on.

Totally agree. More and more thats what I am thinking I will get next. 911 is another great example. The S Class used to also be that way
If only the hood had two layers of steel, with a void in between them. Like, exactly where that wire is run.
It's not run that way though, it should be fasteners on the underside of the hood, hidden by the silencer pad, and the electrical connector in a closed void that's accessed from above when the emblem is removed. A lot of cars have similar setups for various items embedded into the hood where it's totally slick/clean other than the single harness loom at one of the hinges.
They just ran the cable under the hood after a partial hidden run. Looks tacked on
Like seriously, it's one step away from zip ties

Speaking of S class… Saw this S560 at the gym this morning. Miss the days when numbers actually have meanings.
At least they resisted the urge to add to the numbers. They went from a 4.7L S550 to a 4.0L S560 to the new generation with the same 4.0L S580 lol. This could have been the S590 or S600!
