Again it has nothing to do with old vs new, it has to do with ugly vs not and if I'm going to spend a huge amount of money on a car I don't want to drive something lots of people think is ugly. Same as I wouldn't buy this S Class lol:
Jesus Christ. Could that have at least been a two tone or something? Or had the picture taken next to a matching color supercar of some sort so it makes more sense?
and those millionaires may care that they don't look flashy or ostentatious.
even better in a dark coal mine with the lights out.
When I go to some places I prefer to be low key/blend in more. Otherwise people can judge you for showing up in a car they perceive to be flashy and make some snide comments, irony is they usually have a 2-3 year old mainstream car they spent as much or more on.
Uh and you realize I can compare my cars to brand new ones right?
The new ones are marginally better excluding the top end (so think Honda/kia/etc not Mercedes/GM supercruise level) and still don't hold center perfectly so again, unless it's better than me it just slowly irritates me like observing an inept driver.
Well the top end is what we are talking about. Mine holds center great...again its not driving itself its just doing 80% of the work...its not about it doing it or me doing it. Its helping me do it.
Hyundai/Kia actually has some of the best lane centering in the industry.

They paid a lot of money for that green!
Or, they parted with a lot of green for that green!

Oh yeah they did!
The type of things I'm talking about that the systems do not do are minor by again, annoy me. So if I'm on the interstate and see 3-5y ahead the pavement is broken or undulating I'll pre-position my wheels on that side to avoid it. Mostly to preserve my $500 tires and multi link but also so I avoid feeling the irregularity, the auto systems don't do that and they eat the imperfections just like a novice driver would lol!

You still do that. You're looking at the feature the wrong way. It doesn't drive for you, it just takes a lot of the effort away so that you don't have to focus so much. You can look down and get a drink or grab your food or get something out of the console or adjust the audio and not have to worry as much about staying on the road. My hand is still on the wheel and when I see an area like that I still move to avoid it.
When you get used to that not having it is really a pain. All the time when driving the Pacifica on a trip I will reach for something in the car or screw with the audio and drift out of my lane because I am so accustomed to the car just holding the lane for me from driving the S Classes.

You are missing the point, if it can't do that then I have to be looking ahead anyway....if I'm putting effort in like that I might as well rest a hand on the wheel and direct the car. Only time I use/like it is when I'm already so tired I don't care about that anymore
Most of the effort for driving for me IS the act of looking ahead and predicting, not actually dictating to the car what to do. The state can't do that critical step as well as I can so it's nothing more than a "hold this for a second please" type function
I'm very aware that it holds the car on its own well enough I have cars that do that but they don't fully drive themselves like the GM system can so it's "meh" to me

You still rest a hand on the wheel and direct the car...it just shares in that work for you. It is not meant to drive the car for you or for you to look away for long periods of time. Its a safety net. Its like cruise control, sure I can hold the car there at a steady speed but having the car just do that for me reduces the stress of driving.
Dark colors make a huge difference, this is how I would have spec'ed mine:
But, still really polarizing and I'm not a polarizing guy.
Whew that's awful in ANY color, even the black doesn't make it look good.
I just saw this, and laughed. IDK if it goes for over here. But we were talking about the W126 and how downmarket it looked without leather.... And all of the sudden a W223 looks like **** inside, whomever would not put leather in their S-Class, your prerogative but you're crazy lol.
Also speaking of green S-Classes that one you posted is hideous and I wouldn't want it, but check out this green that an S63 was painted in some C&D or MT test... looks great.
Needs a hood star and regular grill but still, wow.

I would totally rock an S-class with Cashmere seats! 7-series has offered them for a few years as well, in the non-Msport trims:
Love that fine wool upholstery is no longer limited to just ultra-luxury cars like the Century and Maybach.
Yeah the Cashmere is really nice. Not my thing but people have been asking for a leather free interior. Range Rover also has a neoprene like interior material that is leather free.
Yeah that green is olive green, its $6,500. One of my buddies on MBWorld has it:
Yeah there's a bit of a movement against leather in cars from the animal rights crowd. I forget his name but there's some german auto reviewer on Youtube that regularly blasts automakers for having leather interiors.

I know who you mean. Is the channel Autogefuhl? He refers to leather as animal skin. He's a pretty good reviewer though IMO.
