General Car Conversation - 2026 Part 1
I could do a waterless wash but I REALLY don't like physically touching the cars if I can avoid it.
In this case it was from me cutting on some wood to use to fit new vanities into the hall bathrooms. Anything I do work wise in the garage ends up dusting my cars like that and it's so annoying. Normally it's not an issue as I can just roll it back 20 ft and do a quick foam but it's been cold for two weeks.

Whole interior is currently removed so I can replace it with a black set, it needs to be paint corrected after that. I'm extremely temped to manual convert it and use it as my daily once it's a stick shift, would be very fitting I use W8/12s for work commute/all other driving.
My garage has all kinds of clutter, about 70% of it car related. My truck doesn't fit so that leaves one spot in the garage where the clutter goes.
Been back to Vegas since Friday night and driving the BMW around. It seems to be running fine. I did do a datalog and didn't notice anything off. Going to try to get it in for an oil change this week and have them look into why the trans only gets up to 165 F. I do love how the E30 cleans up the timing.

I use plastic car cover in garage when I don’t plan on driving one for a while. Even opening and closing the garage dust will come in and get on a clean car especially black!!

That's one car more than many I see with garage door open. Sometimes it looks like an episode of Hoarders. I'm blessed to have a shop/storage to keep everything from riding mowers to tools and all the 'crap', leaving the garage for cars and motorcycle. Reminds me... I need to straighten things up.

But I can't walk away from my house payment which is basically nothing (car payments are more in lots of cases), and a 3% mortgage. So we'll deal with it lol.
Not entirely sure, its been an issue for years. It sits a lot, and when she does drive it its very short trips so theres a lot of starting and not a lot of charging going on. I think its just really hard on the battery. I put a battery in it about once a year it seems like. I think the battery was just worn out and then it sat after a quick drive when it hadn't had a chance to recharge the battery and then it got cold and that was it. It was deader than a doornail too, no electrical power whatsoever...not even enough to electrically unlock the doors
For example she never drives more than say...3-4 miles...and then she'll park and stop, and restart and drive 3-4 miles back and then it will sit for 3-4 days. Battery tender would help but its parked outside in a parking lot. Then on top of that the hood release doesn't work most of the time so its a bitch to get the hood open.
There also is a slow leak in the right rear tire, I had all the tires replaced in August but she either picked up a nail somewhere or the bead on the wheel is flaking or something. I'm going to have the mobile tire installer I used go by her place and check it out. I looked at it but couldn't see a nail, didn't take it off the car though...
For instance I was in WV last weekend and she then was going to come over and watch the kids night before last and she had to admit to me that it hadn't started since I was in WV, so she was basically homebound for a week. I just really don't like her being with such an old and questionable car (today is her 79th birthday)

get her a self-driving tesla with a home charger so she doesn’t have to deal with gas stations, oil changes, etc. i doubt she drives far, so range not an issue.
my uncle visited me over the holidays and not a car guy but he LOVED my model y, the self-driving, the sound system, the smoothness and quiet, and lol’ed at the fart cushion option.

My MIL was told by her hairdresser about how her Tesla drives her to and from work. Now she can't stop talking about it. She's very intrigued by it. This is the woman that has a 2022 Q3 with less than 1k miles on it. The idea of her not driving is very exciting to her. Also, my SIL told her about her boss driving all over with her Tesla the same way so now she likes Teslas. lol.
Interesting, I never had that issue but then I've never had one that sat a lot.
