It's a solid offer for sure!

As for the move, I am sitting on their offer and I have to respond by midnight tomorrow (Wednesday). No stress or anything...

So yes, that is why we would sell the GS. I'm struggling to find a house down there with a garage big enough for all 3 cars and I don't want to leave any out, exposed to the weather full-time. And soon we'll need a car for my daughter and I don't need 4 cars at the house. Also, it's an AWD version which doesn't make a ton of sense down there.

However, what are you getting nex?
I would not be replacing it, as it's an extra car.

I have not yet but I do intend to get a quote from Carvana. It just sounds like such an easier path than trying to do a private party sale.

That's a solid offer for this car for sure. I think used car prices have been going up. I keep getting new offers from Carvana for the one I didn't sell them. Lol. Why not keep the car for your daughter? It's hard to get a good car like 4GS with that amount of money these days. Good luck with your decision/move!

I mean I guess, but you're wrong about Europe influencing what we get. MB is making V8s specifically for the NA market which really means USA....

An All-New, V-8-Powered Mercedes-AMG CLE63 Is in the Works

A new family of V-8 engines designed with North America in mind is making it all possible.

Renewed North American Focus

The CLE63 is a reflection of Mercedes’ renewed focus on North America, Chamberlain said, where V-8-powered cars remain far more desirable than in other markets. There are another two or three products coming as well that are being developed specifically for North America, which are being built on a new platform that will also presumably be able to support a V-8.

-----------------------------------------

It still comes with hybrid stuff but I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they get lots of consumer feedback wanting pure ICE only.

From this article:

As for the car’s V-8, Mercedes-Benz has developed a new family of V-8 engines that retain a high-performance character but with lower emissions in order to meet future regulations. The new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 with a flat-plane crankshaft is already available in the new 2027 S-Class and will power the upcoming 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE580 and GLS580 SUVs, both of which just made their global premieres. In those vehicles, the engine produces 530 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Not surprisingly, AMG has said it will be tuning performance variants of the new V-8.

This is the M176 EVO, and its Euro 7 compliant. Makes no sense for MB to create a different V8 just to sell here, they just don't sell enough of them. This is the same flat plane crank V8 that is coming in the 27 W223 refresh and the GLE and GLS refreshes, as per the article you posted.

The reason the S63 and E63, M5 etc are PHEVs is 100% because of Europe, thats the same reason the C63 is that stupid 4 cyl PHEV, all because of European compliance...the PHEV is what allowed them to be sold and driven in European city centers. Now that the M176 Evo is Euro 7 compliant watch, all those PHEVs will be replaced with non PHEVs using the M176 Evo.

They will all be 48v because you need 48v for the eABC and electronic sway bars etc.

"Future regulations" is garbage, they're just saying that.. CAFE is gutted. We want big V8s back. Ahem, the 409CI GM V8 coming.

They mean European regulations. We are not the only country on earth, and Mercedes is a European carmaker. GM is an American carmaker. MB sells less cars in the US in total than GM sells just V8 pickups. What makes sense for each carmaker in terms of engine development is totally different.

Do some research into the M176 Evo engine family and Euro 7 compliance. Mercedes is not designing engines only for the US not does it make sense for them to. GM is, and they can because the US is its primary market for these vehicles and these engines.

Its actually AMAZING that MB was able to make these engines...including the old V12 Euro 7 compliant. BMW's V8 isn't Euro 7 Compliant yet, and they dropped it in the 7 Series for this year and its said to be back once they are able to get that engine to be Euro 7 Compliant.

What irks me now is that car manufacturers think we all want hybrids with just stupid power numbers in high end car, I would guess the majority of the buyers just want ICE.

I read an article on the Bentley Super Speed, it has EV range and they even said you can feel the crap switching over.

Pass. Bring back the 6.75L V8. Guarantee most Bentley owners would be jussssst fine with that.
Oh it's also slow as **** vs the older Speeds, 30mph lower top speed because the hybrid system runs out of battery. Choppy as hell too, it's honestly so bad I was actively laughing and the salesman assumed I liked it but I asked him what he thought vs the old W12 Speed.

We both agreed the new system is much more choppy and you can feel both the hybrid system and higher pressure turbos/cylinder deactivation kicking in and out. It's nothing like the unbroken perfectly smooth wall of force of a pure engine

And 177 mph?!? Seriously?!? So damn insulting. A 2004 will pass you no issue as would any of my NA W12s

I will fully admit Mercedes are winning in strides with engine development. The fact they even have their 12 at all to this day is a very impressive commitment

And like In said that they went to the effort to update it to be Euro 7 compliant, shows a commitment to it for the future or they wouldn't have bothered. They could have sent it off into the sunset and nobody would have noticed.

Well... didn't you say 100k is no longer a 100k these days? For a reference... I got my 2015 FSports for a little over 50k. So you got a fair offer for your 2013. Lol

I paid $60k for my GS in 2020. If I can sell it for $40k 6 years later I think I'll be doing pretty good!

They will probably be the last V8/V12 standing, I would be interested in an S63 if they have a pure version but what I really want is a S65 AWD.

But what part of that article do you not understand? MB is making engines specifically for the US market because ... we all want V8s back.

So is that a lie or something?

I don't care about European regulations.
