I have to put it in for the freaking out HVAC blend door, I will have them look at that as well when its there. I also need them to take another stab at fixing the weird flutter sound coming from the passenger side at highway speeds. Want to get it all 100% and then we can decide if we want to keep it or not. It will need tires before winter, and if we keep it it needs some dings PDRed, and it needs a good 1-2 step polish also. So, thats $2,500 or so worth of stuff...warranty-wise I probably wouldn't buy an extended warranty because the powertrain is covered for 5 years/60k miles and the hybrid system is covered for 10 years 150k miles and the transmission has a special extension for 25 years/unlimited mileage because of some legal case. We would only keep it another couple years or so, likely only until 50k miles.

I think they will take care of you just fine, I didn't have any issues getting my dealer to cover issues on my trucks when I had them.

Holy **** 25 years is a BIG screwup level warranty. That's Mercedes SBC level safety net lol!

No Chrysler has honestly been great with warranty work. They are probably the most accommodating of any car manufacturer I have ever done business with.

Seriously, no clue what happened to prompt that extension!

PCV valves are good to replace periodically, and usually cheap and easy. I did the one in my truck last year for maybe $15 and 5 minutes of work. The one on the BMW ruptured in January and was $20 to fix(later model B58's require a full valve cover replacement because they decided to integrate it).

I see a flattened rat almost daily in Sunset. They are starting to creep up into Dyker Heights now. In 20 years I had never seen one. In the last two weeks two dead ones on the road. There is too much construction going on in these areas and these suckers just pop up.

My biggest fear storing cars in a garage in the winter. They move into the engine bay and eat.

At the risk of sounding like MMarshall, I would hope not.

hmmm you're more of a joint guy i see

nah you didn't really run that risk... you didn't launch into an explanation about how thc impairment often leads to reduced motor function, resulting in slower reaction times and less situational awareness

after some more reading looks like that was only made for a car show never actually put in production, it looks unbelievably dangerous were something to happen

I went by my Indy today and they lubed my power antenna for free.. I didn't even have to get out. Great place.

He said the M113 was the last great MB V8, and just unkillable and dead reliable... He pointed to three cars and said they all have 300k+ lol..

LOL yeah I do!!!

I kinda figured out how to explain how the SL accelerates versus the other cars.

Like I said, the LS430 beats it in midrange punch because of the VVT-i I'm pretty sure, that's my best guess. For example, if you floor it and call for a downshift into first at 33MPH and don't get it and just stay in second, the midrange is fantastic.

MB has more torque and displacement (290/320 vs 302/339) and is even oomphier than the LS430, though it revs more before upshifting because it's an SL. They both take off differently and are excellent in their own ways. I do think 6 gears (LS) is better than 5 but it's no big deal. On the other hand, having a 2nd gear that goes up to near 80 is verrrry nice.

The MB V8 starts to scream after 3500k or so and it reallllllly starts to pick up speed (dual intake runners open up) and is just begging to be wound through the gears.. Anyone who knows Mercedes knows proper MBs are generally reallllly known to pick up speed when they're already moving and it's no different here.

For example, I had to pull out fast onto a 2 lane road and floored it for a sec yesterday and it still revved out to near redline and I had to slam on my brakes before I rear ended the car that just passed me by (before I pulled out) LOL. Wasn't even to the floor. That's like never happened to me, once. Lol.

Denali would beat it at a roll, I think, bc the transmission is so fast but I'd say at the drag strip the SL would win the 1/4 by a decent stretch.....especially trap speed.

LX isn't as fast as any of these but the way it revs out (and overall feel) is quite satisfactory and it's a very free revving engine, love how it's like that while it being such a huge V8. Low end torque is enormous.
