General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 2
Because it did do an amazing job. As it has every time I've been driven by it. The compute required to do what it did is absolutely immense, and that it's available in vehicles priced where these cars are priced is a cause for celebration, not derision. These vehicles operate on a continuous improvement model, they learn from mistakes, and they will get better and better over time. The standard of human driving, it seems to me, is however continually on the decline.
Yes, I am sure there's something in that. Some people are willing to embrace nascent technology, some prefer more mature and more proven technology. And that's fine. No one is right or wrong. But with that said, if no one were willing to embrace the nascent, nothing would ever get to proven maturity. Probably also helps if you work in tech, as I do.

As someone who works in tech, I have my reservations about releasing tech too fast.
This is my big and only worry and the reasons are outside the scope of this thread so I'll stop there.
But your post is 100% true, Imo.

I'm fine with hybrids that never deactivate the engine and are only used as an assist system, bonus points if I can use the system to move the car around and maybe a short store run. I hate systems that randomly turn the engine on or slam it to 5k rpm from off once you want any decent power
and that is what i wrote: " pacifica doesn't drive as bad as i've described" (nothing to do with the video). do you believe the video was edited to exaggerate or is otherwise not an accurate representation of how it drives?
you can (and no doubt will) keep harping on how i haven't driven it, but i don't waste dealers' time driving cars that i have zero likelihood of buying. put me on ignore if it bothers you. and this forum is FILLED with opinions and comments about vehicles by users that haven't driven them.
I don’t argue with you about how your cars drive, and I’ve actually driven them

and opinions should be welcomed, even if we don't agree. but your m.o. is always the same... try to shut down anyone that disagrees with you.

They are really good vans, much better than others in terms of refinement/drive. If you lease them then you will never have reliability issues, leasing really is wonderful for never having to care about long term ownership and you always have the newest
I have watched many of his videos, he drives cars really hard at WOT a lot. It’s not a car you have any need to drive at WOT.

200s are so ridiculous here that on my daily morning run to McDonalds for my Diet Dr P which is three streets and about 5-7 minutes away, I am not exaggerating here..... I see at least one 200 LC/LX nine out of 10 of those days. Sometimes I'll see multiple ones. On just a simple, short run down the street and back home. I'm not exaggerating, just about every single day.
It’s a video. You can’t get a driving experience from a video, at least not enough to argue with someone who owns the car.

You don’t have to drive it, just don’t argue with people who own the car about how they feel to drive when you have never driven one. Pretty simple.
I have no issue with people disagreeing with me as long as they have some experience similar to my own on a given subject. Not going to entertain somebody’s disagreement when they don’t have any idea what they’re talking about and I do, no.

Like a Ferrari in traffic vs open road, you suffer the traffic to be able to do 458 stuff when it opens up (I have 458 on my mind right now, very nice in white over ram Daytona seats)
That's the whole issue with hybrids for some people, when you actually start to DRIVE them it just gets sloppy and disjointed. A whole area of the power delivery is just meh and subpar and it's located in the area you want it to feel good.
