General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 2
I didn't cherry pick anything, I know the 600 is slower. Do you have links to your claim?
Well, keep in mind how much that engine costs... There's no way that could be a mass production engine. The engine alone probably costs as much as a whole not-cheap brand new Lexus.
Oh a Ferrari has to be red. Lambo yellow. Or black for both, I personally love black cars.

The V10 is expensive sure but it's not otherworldly expensive and a lot of the cost is from lack of volume, if they even somewhat tried to up numbers it could be in the $50-60k range like normal V12s are since it's only $70k-ish as is. Thats it's not even that far off, less than 20k more than my D4s engines new and the same price as a 3rd gen Bentley W12
Absolutely, here you go. 6mph faster through the quarter mile is a lot faster. Also quicker in the 1/4 mile. 0-60 beat Lexus’ time and got 5.4 0-60.

The AWD 460 is almost comically slow for what it is and what year it was released/ran till, you would lose to a tuned LS430 or most GSs and ISs to say nothing about its German rivals.
However I really don't think that's the point with the 600 because it is such a good passenger experience. The power is more than enough for that job
A SWB RWD 460 is slightly faster but the 600 will destroy an AWD 460 badly.

The 600 will usually (almost always) win on the street because it's always 5.7 dead every time you launch, and it can do it from full lock on a merge. The RWD car will smoke them in that situation or tail out

Never stopped the Germans from putting 12s into everything lol!

And honestly, I'd bet this V10 is dead reliable to boot.... it is a Lexus. I bet each motor cost an absolute fortune and is part of the reason the car is so expensive.
But this is a cut above even those engines...it was a $450k car. This engine revs so fast that they HAD to make the tach digital bc an analog needle couldn't keep up. I don't think I've ever heard a better sounding exhaust, either.

The VAG V10 is a superior engine even in the V10 world if we are talking about objective performance metrics and has proven insane reliability
Each LFA V10 is $72k even at the low volume it as made it, that's it. The sound is the best engine ever made for sure but the expensive part of that car is the chassis and even that is not all that amazing. My sedans have higher torsional stiffness
All those facts out of the way the LFAs emotional experience is one of the best in existence

It is not a cut above, that's just in your head. It's actually below them as the ultimate level is a 16 followed by the 12s

I'm not the biggest fan of W12s, V12s are different. But even then, to say this Lexus V10 isn't special is ludicrous.
W12s are just V12s made more efficient, stronger, smaller, and lighter, same reason the W16 was invented in the first place. To overcome the drawbacks of V16s and because a V12 didn't have the ability to hit power target reliably enough for Piech.
How many 12s have you owned? Driven? LFAs? None of those numbers are zero for me so I have direct experience
I also never said the Lexus 10 isn't special, I said it's one of the best experiences in existence and the best sound of anything. It's my 2nd favorite car of all time as well and I would only ever give one up for one other car if I somehow had one. I'm just being realistic as to what it actually is from a mechanical standpoint price be damned. They blew a lot of money deciding to make it out of CF and if they made it out of alum like originally planned and released it $150k cheaper and before the GTR it wouldn't have failed

its follows the "golden ratio" if there was a ever a thing of pumps to bathroom stalls lol

Bucess is probs the only gas station where folks purposely fill up, and essentially can park at the pump, do all of that, come back and not get into an argument for being inconsiderate lol

I got gas at Exxon prior arriving to Buc’ees because I’m running a mild tune. But did grab a breakfast burrito and couple other snacks to bring back home.
This is 100% true. It’s been a few times I know I left my vehicle at the pump for at least 30 min to walk in and find wife and kids pushing a shopping cart inside the store.

We decided awhile ago that buc-ees are no longer worth the trouble. Lol. Their restrooms have no comparison and they do have a few good items but totally not worth the trouble driving through. I think their gas is higher than nearby stations.
