So this is funny. I just went out to put some stuff in my trunk. I unlocked the car with the app, and then opened the trunk. I got a notification within the app that the “Load Compartment is Open”. When you have a Mercedes you don’t have a trunk…you have a “Load Compartment” LOL
Hey it saved them having to code a separate message for sedans and crossovers.

Very fancy name for a trunk. Lol
Will the app open your "box of gloves" too?

The most likely answer to that is the way crossovers have proliferated with sedans. No need to program different messages into the apps for different types of cargo-areas. There are, IMHO, already too many electronics in today's vehicles.

always a delight to a see a Taurus for some reason
I always thought the best version of the Taurus was also the largest one....which was re-named from the Ford Five Hundred to the Taurus. The Mercury version (Montego) was even nicer.

You’re both dead on! I didn’t put 2 and 2 together there. If that’s totally it lol
Saw a really unusual license plate this morning. I have never seen "WEIGHTED" written across the top of the plate. I have no idea what that means. Also North Carolina had odd periods or something to break up the way it's usually spelled. Just a weirdo plate.
Oh btw, Lexus is ending production of the IS 500 in November 2025. If anyone was considering getting a new one, you've got about 6 months left. This is from Lexus Japan.
Here's why you don't live in Europe. The caption is "E220D tows well". Boy I bet they'd love to see how an American truck/SUV handles it. Or that they'd be blown away at least by the capabilities.

perhaps another reason is they don't have to call it "boot" or "trunk" depending on locale.

"caravan" trailers like that are paper thin and light, so towing probably not a big deal. see top gear's classic caravan episode.

You would be stunned how well a full size euro can tow, my cars are rated at 5250lb and have very nifty hidden hitches that provide feed back to the car if using a supported trailer.

I saw some video of an M5 over there towing some huge boat that took off like a bat out of hell from a light (and beat the person recording it lmao).....
