General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 2
Sure, but I don't directly compare a BOF Yukon to a GLS/X7/etc, they're just different completely in my eyes.
One is a literal truck, and that's what I want. The reasons these BMWs are insane with the performance is because they're based on high performance platforms, so I see why you like that better.
There are no right or wrong answers here.
Two of my friends whom one just came from a Denali and the other who have told me that the Escalade is even smoother than the Denali which surprised me. IDK how the engine or transmission could be, must be the ride. That does surprise me as well because they have the same dampers.

Yeah but I bought it in 2012 lol, things were pretty different then. Every single car I owned until after the LS430 was a sedan, so I get it.

I don’t think if you actually drove a big Yukon here in DC you wouldn’t actually like it. Bumper to bumper traffic where you need to be able to duck in and out of gaps quickly. Parking in tight parking garages where you have to worry about width and height. They won’t fit in a standard garage as most of them here are only 20x20 or smaller. Driving something that big here is tiring.
As much as I love big cars even I am considering something smaller than my big sedan next time. The GLC350e has actually caught my eye. Watching a review of one right now actually.

I guess that’s where the viper gets it name from…the widow maker. Glad to see he was ok.
My wife turned down a parking space right outside her office door when we had the LX 570 because she didn’t want to parallel park it. She opted for a regular parking further away.

I am 9 calendar days away from my last day as an employee with the EV division of a much larger "energy company". In fairness to them, I'm not sure they even knew there was an RV division until they looked at quarterly reports. We were given a mandate to be profitable a couple years ago. You didn't have to be tea leaf literate to know it wasn't going to happen. I am professional "low hanging fruit" in most organizations. I am grateful that I was not that at all during my time with the company. It was the best organization I have ever worked for and unfortunately, we had an impossible mission.
I am watching Landman now and I am not current on the series, so the preview of a recent episode got into the windpower angle a bit. Rather than comment on the specific dialog, if you are familiar with the show and/or interested, watch that clip and do some fact checking on windmills. I have read several studies. I had a grad school friend who did expensive research on windpower as an alternate energy source. We were all nerds and picked our own "hills to die on." That was his. Mine was ripping the WEU apart and leaving it on the cutting room floor.
In other news, Margate is right about lending tools to people. Go rent your tools fool. Then you can pay Home Depot or whomever for all the shat you lost or broke. Meanwhile, people like us don't have to run around and shop for tools we just had a day or two ago.
To the would be tool borrowers...

No no, I have to have a convertible so that's never gonna happen. I don't ever seeing myself buying another sedan, however. And I have nothing against them, like I said every single car I ever owned was a sedan until after the LS430. But things aren't the same anymore.
No, I would want that in bumper to bumper traffic. Navigating thick traffic is fine no matter what you drive as long as it's fast. Denali and LX for that matter are by far quick enough for fast moves and darting. Remember I lived in the absolute thick of Hollywood/West Hollywood Los Angeles (RIGHT where everything was), put the pin in the map where we lived as the traffic in that area was/is as bad as anywhere in that city. The roads were smaller, too. My spouse had an 17 mile commute to Torrance that was an hour and a half minimum each way. I can tell you for a FACT, looking back, man I wish we had our LX then just for the driving position and tank-ness. But yes parking is something you do have to adjust to I do agree with you there. Even my LS430 was too big for some small spots. I couldn't even get 10MPG in my LS430, that's how shitty the traffic was where we lived. I wonder if I could have cracked 6 in the LX570 lol.
Also, my garage wouldn't fit an Escalade V as it is, unfortunately. LX gets in there by a hair. Denali sits outside. That the Merc has plenty of room is all I care about....
That's sharp. But there's no way you're gonna be able to downgrade from an S-Class, lol come on.
BTW as your business partner what he likes about his truck, I'm curious if he shares my opinion on the pros.

To the would be tool borrowers...Heat - Don't waste my motherfuckin' time!

Yep. Never a lender or borrower be when it comes to tools
Wind is a significant contributor to California energy. 7.29% of California's total in-state electricity generation was wind in 2024 and 11.89% if you include imported wind-generated electricity. It's not as significant a contributor as solar, but it is on par with nuclear. Of the 62.23% of the states power that comes from non-GHG sources and renewables, wind contributed 11.89% percentage points of the 62.23 percentage points (in other words, it's just over 19% of the total power from renewables).
The last civil reactor to be built has already been built. The NRC exists just to manage the gradual de-nuclearization of our energy grid.
When you get rid of your cars and go all SUV we’ll talk lol.
