General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 2
I had a pleasure of visiting Italy couple months ago. Talk about cluster-duck when it comes to city driving, following the "rules of the road" (more of a suggestion), etc, etc.... It's truly an experience one has to witness on his/her own
.
.
We have different definitions of "dart" clearly lol. The 6.2 Yukon I had wasn't moving through traffic anywhere near the way I do in the S580...nobody here lets you in either, blinkers make people close gaps up. What maneuvers you can do are nowhere near as effotless.
Its a massive truck, its skillset lies elsewhere. Its just far from the ideal vehicle to drive in an urban environment.
Exactly on both fronts. Many parking garages here you just can't get into at all in a Yukon or other full size BOF SUV.

It’s not a knock against it, it just is what it is. Every vehicle is not best suited for every use. Big BOF SUVs are great at many things but driving around in a tight urban setting darting in and around traffic is not one of those things. Something smaller than my S580
would be superior in that use to it as well.

That just isn’t accurate. Physics is physics. Yukon is nowhere near as agile or maneuverable as your LS430.

As I recall, GM, at one time, had a few large trucks and SUVs with four-wheel steering as an option. That helped somewhat with the turn-radius and in parallel-parking in tight spaces. But it went away because of cost and complexity.
EDIT- just googled it you’re right, Quadra steer.
Rear wheel steering helps a lot but you still have mass and size and lack of low end torque.

The LS430 is an absolute boat stock. I had to replace the whole suspension to the sport spec with THICK aftermarket sway bars and sportier tires to get it to somewhat handle lol!
Yeah I don't think the power to weight ratio is much different between the LS430 and the LX570 lol.
Of course it's a boat. That's what it's supposed to be. Like with the Town Car, Fleetwood/DeVille, Buick Luceerne, etc. ,that's exsctly what most of its buyers wanted....and got.
Exactly. And no you don't mean the LS is exactly like a Town Car but same intent, super soft versus sporty.
Actually, the LS has had a pretty "european" ride vs a soft totally non dynamic ride like you find in a big American luxury car like a Town Car. The LS430 is the boatiest generation of the LS, but even still its much more firmly damped than a Lincoln or Cadillac of that era.
Comparing to Lincolns and Cadillacs, LS was more Continental and Seville than Town Car or Fleetwood. All aimed at german luxury sedans
