EPA Chief: Auto Start/Stop Technology Is Done
Only way to do this is to change how epa measures fuel consumption by not measuring idling?
Which is stupid.
Also, all these new hybrids turn off engines all the time, this seems a lot like 2015 problem.

Lol come on. Literally the federal government is basically saying "We know you hate this crap." Even I of all people am surprised by that one.
2UZ could never use start/stop bc they take a second to crank by design, same with my LS430.

Why when I start the GMC for the first time does it sound completely normal but then it starts much faster with the S/S??
I love the sound of the starter and startup....the first time.

eventually automakers will make the feature a standard device that can’t be defeated. It will get to the point where customers don’t notice it. So manufacturers will just make it standard to gain the MPG benefits
S/S just sucks in every way imaginable.
You haven't driven any 48v cars, its completely transparent in almost all scenarios. Only issue is when you're in stop and go traffic. Normal driving its invisible.
Lets put it this way I had him in there coding and he could have coded it off and I told him not to, where I have always had it coded off before.

My standard is it must be fast enough to tie a running engine launching from a dead stop, no system I have ever tried is able to start in time and they always shudder or lag. Plus I hate losing oil pressure for no reason
Fair lol! I just REALLY hate it when a car doesn't respond consistently, expressly when the engine/trans is otherwise great. Two offenders are my 4.0T and my dads Range Rover, sure if you wait a fraction of a second you can't really tell but if you are just sitting there and light goes green and you go for gas with the expectation of bringing revs to 3500-4500 for a harder roll off the cars are not smooth and the delay is horrible.
48V cars are better but the engine is still not even at idle yet alone near converter lock so they feel weak for a second vs when just already running. My friends dad just got a 2019 Eco boost expedition and it's SO bad combined with the turbo lag and 10 speed not knowing what is going on, they are also having the 10-6 shift shock and 7-8 upshift issues so likely dead trans at under 60k miles....

Implementation is key with stop/start. My BMW was great, my Porsche and Hyundai are terrible where I have to turn it off or put it in sport mode just so I don’t have to deal with it.
You know what is almost as bad and senseless as stop/start? Skip shift where unless you were high enough in the rpm’s, the car would only let you shift from 1st gear to 4th gear. My Viper had that “feature.” The solution was to give it more gas before shifting…that makes a lot of sense.
