EPA Chief: Auto Start/Stop Technology Is Done
This happened to me as well, I used a tool called Bimmercode to change this setting back so that it remembers what I set the auto start/stop to. It cost me a few dollars but I felt it was worth it to get rid of the annoyance.
Well, with all due respect, two points. First, even in your own car, it's not a question if YOU want to wear the belts or not. In your own state (New York), the public law (upheld by the courts) is that all adults in a vehicle WILL wear their belts and be restrained, and, children, depending on age, will be in child or booster-seats. Second, legally, driving is not a God-Given-Right (or even a First-Amendment Constitutional right), but a privilege. When you sign for your license, you agree to follow the rules in your own state, and those of any other state you happen to drive in. Legally, these are not debatable issues...they are facts.

Yes but I DONT want to wear a seatbelt in my OWN car!
Why should I suffer from idiotic chime?
Also the new cars don’t allow you to drive if door is open which is another idiotic rule. There plenty of times im moving my car slightly in my driveway or backing into the garage where it’s helpful to have door open so i can see my kids or stuff in the way.
These are all unnecessary restrictions to protect NOT the consumer but the Automaker from liability. Since consumers don’t have a lobby group vying for OUR interests, we get screwed.

As for not moving with the door open, again its for safety to try and protect people. With modern electronic shifters its very easy to forget and leave it in gear and go to get out of the car, which is why it goes into park. I have never found any reason to try and move my car with the door open, and I have young kids too. The car has 360 degree cameras and sonar assist etc. Just close the door.
Consumers do have lobbying groups, but in general they focus on keeping people safe vs letting them do things that are not safe just because they are obstinate. Which I support.
No chimes when you wear your seatbelt, I don't even think about putting it on, its automatic. In any event every car I have owned requires you drive a little distance before the chime starts, moving cars around in a driveway doesn't trigger it.

Well, not wearing a seatbelt is illegal on top of being profoundly stupid. Carmakers are just trying to keep people safe.

In my neighborhood driving my kids to their school, you can’t go past 15mph even if you wanted to. Zero need for seatbelt.
I don’t need a car that I own telling me what I can or can’t do.
You I’m sure drive “illegally” over the speed limit every day - you want the same rule as in EU where the car chimes nonstop until you go below that number lol
None of my cars have 360 cameras or sonar assist. My GT3RS doesn’t even have backup camera and super annoying to back into garage without opening the door.

I'm pro seatbelt but I'm not gonna ever lecture someone to wear one, if they want to fly out the window and be killed if there's a serious impact then that's their choice.
That said, there are plenty of legit reasons people can't/won't wear one. Claustrophobia, bad health, extremely obese people etc etc.

Look, like Mike said, driving is not a right. When you get a drivers license you agree to abide by requirements and laws that limit what you can and can't do. Thats just how it is. Its really not difficult to buckle your seatbelt up to avoid the chime, or to learn how to move a car around without the doors open...if you just refuse on principal to do those things and instead let yourself be frustrated and angry at how the car responds, the only person that damages is you.
How would I not?

There aren't any legit reasons not to wear a seatbelt. If you can't wear a seatbelt you really shouldn't be driving a car.

It’s not illegal driving on a private road or in a private area.

I'm a social libertarian so I'm not at all passionate about forcing people to wear them, and I'm definitely not one to bootlick the government.
However, I choose to wear my seatbelt every time I get in the car. It's just muscle memory at this point. I don't care if the government tells me to do it, I'm already doing it.

The problem is, like I said the cost of the additional injury and death is imposed upon all of us, so society has a vested interest in making sure people take reasonable steps to protect themselves from injury. If the consequences of not wearing a seatbelt truly were only borne by the person who chose not to wear it I would agree.
