yes, they use to also use radar/ultrasonic sensors but phased them out when they concluded they could do it all with regular cameras. i still have my doubts especially in foul conditions, but then maybe no car with no matter how many sensors should be trying to self drive in foul weather.

Can Elon possibly expect his AI to be good enough that it can see with eyes like a conscious being?
absolutely. human eyes are incredible but remember a tesla has more than 2 eyes.

As in, the cameras are the eyes and AI is processing what it "sees" it can drive autonomously?
absolutely. here... watch the car do it and you can also see how on the center screen it shows what IT sees, the other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, etc.

I realize just like us humans, we relay on hearing and other senses to navigate our surroundings so other "sensors" may be needed to fill in what the eyes can't see.
interesting thought. i don't think teslas or any others using hearing, but maybe some day.

FSD has the ability to listen for example to emergency sirens but from what I can gather it is not fully implemented yet, or maybe never. A curious thing about FSD is what you see on screen seems to be interpreted meaning the visuals are not necessarily what the computer is actually reacting to.

I don't blame the FSD for not overtaking the scooters.
That's a driver judgement call.

Or should it?

Yep. The last two FSD revisions mention listening for emergency vehicles. Most people can't wrap their heads around it, but as a skeptic myself, call me impressed 👍

Technically no but in China if you don't drive like Mad Max especially in heavy traffic you'll never get anywhere.

agreed, thanks for taking the time to do that amirza786!
The current autonomous leader in the self driving space Waymo has been doing this for a while. Some Asian mfgs were implementing this tech in their platforms as well.

Unfortunately no legacy or startup wants to partner with them outside of a testing platform partnership for reasons left to speculation.

Truly amazing.
If it can do this on roads that it's never been on, that could be argued to be real AI.

Versus what I call fake AI and clever tricks. Lol

Watched the video and its impressive. Too bad they are physically unable to meet any sort of pedestrian safety requirements.

All AI is fake it's just a matter of how convincing it is. I had a discussion with Grok about this, the AI admitted it doesn't actually know anything lol. But at the same time it's incredibly effective at bouncing ideas off of, far far better than any person unless you happen to be friends with a top 10 smartest person on the planet. And even if you were, have to deal with a persons current mood AI doesn't have this problem.

Here's another conversation I had with Grok, there is no way I could ever get this kind of response from a person, certainly not anyone I know.

Not exactly sure how the above AI will be integrated into a car but I know it will be and it will be amazing.

I’m looking for a 96V lithium battery with a capacity greater than 150Ah for my UTV, and I need to keep the dimensions around 500x570x380mm. Right now, I’m in discussions with Bonnen Battery since they offer a range of 96V lithium batteries. I’ll update my story once I get more details from them!

what do you mean by fake? ai is doing real work already for millions of people. is it always right? of course not, but it keeps getting better.

is it 'fake' when a chess program beats a human chess master? no, it just knows how to play great chess.

one could argue humans are at least as 'fake'

humans can drive but most not very well, lol. the bar is pretty low really for self-driving ai.
