Weight is still too high for the motor to be unsprung, and I'm wondering if the power/weight claims are anywhere near reality. Still, the pace of innovation in motors and batteries is awesome.
Speaking of motors and batteries here's a look at the Polestar 3 they spared no expense, beautifully made. But a heavy car they need to work on this.
I'm not so much interested in range, looking for improvements in cost and energy density as well as charging speed. Once SSBs are perfected and produced profitably at scale I don't see how any auto company not using them has a chance of survival.
thoughts anyone on mercedes claim it has a solid state battery driven eqs with 600+ mi. of range?
Its huge to see a SSB finally out in a production protoype spec, and legacy being the one to market it. I was thinking Toyota would be the first to market since they have been at it since 2010s behind the scenes. MB and I believe German mfgs are utilizing Factorial SSBs?
Sadly since it was not a Tesla product, we wont see the level of fanfare that came and left with the introduction of the 4680s series on that battery day event years back. Hoping that legacy knows better then publicly launch something that wont materialize just to earn some investor clout.

I'll believe it when I see it. I've been hearing all this fanfare about SSB's since 2016. They keep calling it the Holy Grail of battery-packs, but if I remember from Indiana Jones, the Holy Grail didn't seem to help the ****'s much
Jokes aside, if there's been an actual breakthrough, this would be good for the industry

lol, everything they tried ended badly.

Yep, and there is no way one company would be able to keep the tech for themselves. Look at 4680 cells other companies are starting to copy the form factor.
I always wondered how they would handle crashes being so rigid...crush zone
Megacasting crush zone. Actually this isn't new the Y has similar castings. Did I post the video of a Y having the front casting replaced? Gives a great look at the overall structure. If I didn't I'll try and find and post it here.
