What will make them the future is that they're just better for most applications, like you said the charging is what needs to be addressed and it will be.

Having at this point experienced many EVs, I would never choose any ICE vehicle over an EV for general drivability or ease of ownership.

Now, for enthusiast vehicles where the engine is a big part of the experience thats a different matter. For everyday cars though? Why would I want a turbo 4 over an electric motor? Even my car, an EV makes the luxury experience even better because there is no NVH.

She wouldn't be charging for 30 to 40 minutes, unless chargers happen to be extremely far apart. When I travel to SoCal to my brothers house (390 miles), I stop for about 12 minutes to charge, 15 tops if I'm being overly caughtious. Of course my situation might be different than yours living in California, you can't go more than 5 miles without chargers being available

More than likely his wife stopped to fill up her tank whereas these 12-15 min stop to charge you’re not charging to full, you’re basically throwing 10-20 bucks in the tank just enough to get to your destination or the next charging stop. People who are unaware how charging works are not aware of this at least in my experience when I explained it to them. So hopefully in the near future fully charging can be done in 10-15 min.

No, it doesn't charge to full, it will charge to about 60 percent, the goal is to get you to your destination quickly. When I get to my brothers house, I usually have about 20 to 30 percent, I plug into his charger

Bentayga has more exclusivity, absolutely for sure. But not more visual presence. There's a difference. They look too rinky-dink.

Betayga, looks aren’t its greatest trait.

Its not to your personal taste, but a Bentayga attracts far more attention and prestige than a Yukon or an Escalade which people see everywhere and are dramatically cheaper. Same with a Mulsanne vs my S Class. Thats what visual presence is.

i really don't think the bentaygas are attracting attention tbh... also the only people buying bentaygas are those who couldn't get a cullinan lol (aka literally the ceo of the fintech company i worked at a year ago)

Those unfamiliar with charging are unaware of that.

So when my daughter and I are riding together we always point out cool cars or cars that stand out. We would point out a Bentley. Never pointed out a Yukon

Did you ever watch the "Bait-Car" series, where cops depend on unattended appealing bait-vehicles to try and attract car-thieves (and theft-rings) that they can bust? When they use large SUVs as the bait instead of sedans, they depend on Escalades, not Bentleys.
