I must have missed the post or thread. Did they put one of these crazy new 0W oils in your 580?
0W-XX is what you want, the first number is cold flow performance so that's ALWAYS better to have as a 0W type. It's the second number that's the actual hot temp KV and that needs to be matched to the load and shear requirements.
Yeah, they used MB 229.72 spec 0W20 oil when I had it changed at 5,000 miles. That oil is spec for their turbo 4 cyl engines but not the V8 in my car. Car requires MB 229.52 spec which doesn't come in a 0W20, its more commonly 5W30/40 or some 0W/40
Oh. Well that's not good at all. Did you use heavy power at any point or a lot of boost in the low RPMs?
Yeah its super easy, just put the pump down the dipstick tupe, pump it out, replace the filter and fill it up. Issue is disposing of the oil. The Mercedes everything is underneath and you have to remove the shield. Would need ramps to do that.
Every auto parts store will take the used oil. Just put it in the 5qt jugs that the new oil came in, or old washer fluid bottles.
Oil extractors are wonderful. I’ll second Striker’s recommendation of an air-powered one. I’ve been using the big green one from Harbor Freight for over a decade. It’s heavy, but works very well.

No, just very normal driving

Allright, got the scanner. Here's what I have, its throwing code P1B95, which googling gives me:
Code P1B95 DescriptionThe diagnostic trouble code P1B95 indicates an issue with the Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Battery 59 Circuit High Voltage. In hybrid and electric vehicles, the high-voltage battery is a crucial component that powers the electric motor and other electrical systems in the vehicle. The battery pack consists of multiple modules or cells connected in series to provide the necessary voltage for propulsion.
The code did clear and the CEL went off, its still storing the code. So, like I said before doesn't have anything to do with the oil. It took a snapshot of what was going on when it first registered the fault:
