Drove all the way to McLean VA this morning for a meeting, no light!

It’s totally worth it. You’ve spent way more modifying your car than I have repairing these cars, it is what it is.

You should be good. Four or five real stops and starts and if it’s not back, you are good

I only said it was a “theory” that it voids the warranty. I don’t know for sure
Supra is my daily…
How do you like the two seats? I kinda wish the LC500 didn’t have this useless rear seats.

It's a bundle that goes to several places, including the direct ignition for the passenger side bank of cylinders. I'm hoping the damage will be limited to that one bundle.

Unfortunately yes. To be fair, we've had rodent issues in the past, but nothing like this. It's way worse with the construction next door. Every day I put a trap in the engine compartment of the truck and leave it there overnight. Friday night was the ONE night I forgot to do so, and that's when they came back and did the damage.

I am, at this point, just trying to decide if I want to take it to my indy to repair, or to the dealership. If I have time today, I'll make a decision and call for a tow truck.

The 9 grand for valve cover gaskets in the old one is pure insanity. Even for a $100k+ car.
Not particularly, a trans fluid and filter change in the W12 cars is $3200 at Audi/Bentley. It's just a different tier of money/car.....9k for an engine out or heavy disassembly is what I would expect. Valve covers on his engine are a major job

LOL I was waiting for someone to bring up getting a cat.

Around here, outdoor cats don't last long. Coyote snacks...

No actually, the cam tower job on your UR engine will be an easy 5k job as well. You have a similar risk AND valve covers and that will also leak on top of that....

His engine is actively easier to work on many things because of the hot V setup than a lot of things on a UR engine. If my LS460 needed plugs on a road trip like the A8 did then I would have spent way more time and been far more annoyed doing it

i got the mityvac several years ago for the benz, i agree having the filter on top makes things much easier! on the LS it's underneath so i just remove the drain plug since i need to be down there anyway

also sorry to hear about the CEL

not that it helps anything or anyone, but i'd like to point out that i was the first to bring attention to the 0W-20 oil lol... i wouldn't think that would cause the light but yea i'd get that oil out of there and avoid any serious throttle until the proper spec is used

Ehh, you can get it done for $3kish which is still a lot.

It seems this doesn't happen nearly as much, it's not really a big "known issue", not that I've seen over the years with the Japanese built 5.7s which only went into the LC and LX and nothing else.

Here is a 59k mile Japanese built UR engine with the leak....I'm dealing with it shortly and it's a major job.

It's a pain and 3k isn't dealer prices that we are referencing in the case of the S class...

Very early Tundras had Japan built 5.7s. They were also recalled for a camshaft defect

🫣 I try not to think about it. Modifying is by choice. I race. I’m modifying to make improvements. You’re making repairs. There’s a difference. At end of day, money spent on both ends unless your repairs are made under warranty.

I don’t like repairing cars but I don’t mind modifying them. Sounds the same but it’s different, to me at least.

A tune will 100% void a warranty I’m sure. Once I buy a vehicle, I typically don’t take them back to the dealership. I do all of my service at home. A modified ECU can be trace even if you retune it back to stock.

So far I’m liking the Supra. Stock the car is quick. Interior space is limited. Whatever can’t fit between passenger legs on the floor goes in the trunk. I haven’t put anything in the trunk so far other than my daughter’s backpack. I imagine 2 carry on size suitcases will fit in the trunk which is fine. Initial purpose for this car is for date nights and road trips with my wife. At least that’s how I sold it to my wife 🤪

Lowering springs arrive this week💀

Look at the “backseats” of the LC as extra storage space. I considered a LC before getting my FK8 but I needed to put a car seat in the backseat and I only found 1 pic online of a car seat in the backseat of the LC. This time around I was dead set on picking up a LC, but boost won me over the LC. That and the fact if I get bored with the Supra, I can mod it (if I’m being honest I will). I wouldn’t mod a LC other than maybe some wheels. For first time in my life I have an extended warranty and it’s on the Supra so we’ll see how long it won’t see any performance mods. Stock power is fine for now it’s quick.

Yeah. Agreed

would have been cool if there was a parcel shelf. From what I understand is Japanese imports, with two seats, have a higher tax tariff or something along those lines. a car coming in from Germany, does not have that extra fee I believe it’s 2% without the seats added to the cost for Japanese imports
