Are Buicks For Old People? POLL
I agree about the Envista. I think it will attract much younger buyers to the brand. Especially with a $22,000 starting price. I like it a lot. 👍🏻
If I were shopping in this segment, I would definitely consider it over other options. First Buick I’ve ever said anything like this about

Possibly, but I don't think you will see very much demand for them as a rental car. The Envision will be far more likely to be requested, unless one wants something at a rock-bottom price. Look at you and your family, for instance....you ended up in a rental Enclave, which is even larger than an Envision.
Buick has made plenty of attractive concepts over the last several years but there production vehicles are usually completely devoid of sex appeal. What young person would be attracted to a product line that stirs no emotion in you whatsoever? Consumer demographics say it all - the cars might not be for older people, but older people certainly love them and make up the vast majority of owners.
I will say I'll be very interested in the consumer data for the Buick Envista. That is one recent introduction that might start to change things.

There is a lot of demand for small inexpensive rental cars. I am a family of 4 with deep pockets, lots of people are renting for themselves, or themselves and spouse, and cost is really important. Not everybody can or wants to spend $750+ a week to rent a car. Vehicles of this size are far and away the most popular rental cars you find on lots today.
Yes, a number of others also feel that way. While I understand where they are coming from, IMO they aren't really Buick people....they are muscle-car fans.
Buick has done some muscle-cars over the years (the Grand-National/GNX of the 1980s, the GS350/400 of the 1960's, and some big-engined Riviera Gran Sports in the 1960s)...but, in general, aggressive driving is simply not the company's forte. They are built primarily for people who want comfort....although the 20" wheels on the Cascada convertible rode like s***.

I just really don't see the appeal.
Except that they really aren't exceptionally comfortable. I've driven a fair number of Buicks as rental cars, and I really don't find them any more comfortable at all than their other GM counterparts. An Enclave for instance feels just like a Traverse...I actually find the interior and layout of the Traverse more comfortable.

In general, Buicks have better soundproofing than equivalent Chevys. Buick, like Lincoln, spends a lot on things like triple-sealed doors, double-laminated glass, reinforced roof insulation, underwood insulation, etc....although Lincoln does a little better job underhood....for higher MSRPs, of course.
What I like, though, about Buick (and always have), is the amount of comfort they give you for the money....IMO it matches or exceeds that of some more expensive products. But, no, it is not going to exceed the comfort of a Mercedes S-Class LOL.

I would say Buick is more similar to what Mercury used to be, not Lincoln. Like I said, I don’t see any difference in a Buick and a similar Chevy, the Buick is a softer more rounded design clearly aimed at an older buyer, but the build quality and all of the vehicle itself is the same. All the door seals etc look the same. If a Buick model has an option for double paned glass, it’s available on the comparable Chevy too.
Cadillac, for example, ranked very low for years, but has recently improved some....but still below average.
Buick, though, seem to consistently outdo other GM divisions in quality-surveys...yet they are often built on the same assembly lines, as with the ones from Korea.
