Honestly AJT, with all the things you like about your own vehicles and also the ones you have driven like the EcoBoost I think you would love an EV. Massive torque, instant power, stellar NVH, unparalleled smoothness and more. I think you'd love one.
So the narrative is that ICE cars lose 20-33% of their range, but EVs only lose 5% in freezing cold weather?
Not buying it!
No, EV's absolutely lose range in extreme heat or cold. It's physics. 20 percent in extreme cold. I have no idea how much ICE lose, but they also lose range in extreme weather. I would say in my weather, 5 to 8 percent

I agree

You live in SC. You guys don't have cold enough temps to see what we are talking about, we really don't either here in the DC area. Go where its colder though, and you will absolutely see a 20% fuel economy dropoff in an ICE vehicle. Driving to Albany, NY for instance which I do every New Years I absolutely get 20% less highway range when it gets cold.
See this AJT my brother what you have to worry about. Once @SW17LS gets his i7, he'll never want to go back....
Probably not, and that's great.
My issue with the 7 series isn't EV at all (in fact, I like that you can't tell them apart).... it's that the thing is a movie theater rather than a car. Just so over the top. Have you seen the ads? It's just ridiculous. But for others it's just what they want, so good.

Again, you're putting words in his mouth. He said HE sees 5% because it doesnt get very cold where he lives. You will absolutely see 20%+ EV range dropoff in cold weather somewhere that you would see that in an ICE car.

I have no intention of getting the movie screen lol
And yes I am certainly driving my last or second to last ICE car.
I agree

My cousin, someone finally had the time to get technical rather than yes/no, who has a newer Lexus in Rochester says she gets 43MPG in the winter versus 45 in the summer but mostly attributes that to remote start that she uses religiously. EVERYONE up there uses it, or installs them.

Thats just not possible. If she gets 43 MPG she has a Lexus hybrid, and having had a Toyota Hybrid myself, the fuel economy loss is MORE than 20%.
