Don't you have kids? I guess they won't be owning any cars while they live with you.

I don’t have to worry about that for 7 years lol. But yeah they’ll have cars too, assuming we still live here. They would have to park on the street, and then that would only be for a couple years…hopefully.

Times have changed, it's more expensive than when you and I went out on our own. My daughter only moved out for college and is now back home. My son is going to move out soon but he'll probably only be gone for about a year. Thus, four EV's in our yard

At least I’ll get some break while they’re in college!

I think after 18 years old we are now landlords and can charge for parking and charging the car too, if needed. Haha

My wife is traditional, we don't charge them any rent. My daughter works (with autistic children), she basically pays for her own car and lifestyle, I still pay for her insurance, both medical and auto and my son is still in college, although he's now a certified EMT and starts training in April. Don't know how he's going to handle college and working as an EMT though.

I'm hoping that when we are old, they'll take care of us like we did them

It has a switch to change over to the 2nd battery, which I usually need to do at about 2/3rds point. And just like an EV, it requires no maintenance. You just need to sharpen the blade every so often.
His ego battery was $300 I believe at the time. I had the ego mower with double blade. I loved that mower, lightweight with quiet. I retuned it for a gas mower and the first day I spilled gas. 🥴

I would never go back to a gas mower.

Technology has improved tremendously from what you had your battery powered mower.

Same!

I need houses just for cars lol

Seriously, using my Ego mower, I have no idea why anybody would want a gas powered mower...
I bought a self propelled Ego dual blade mower. I couldn’t mow my yard on one charge. After few weeks I figured out to make it on 1 charge. Had to be mowed every 5 days and never when the grass was still wet from dew and couldn’t use the self propel. But I completely agree it has a clean cut, was quiet enough to carry a conversation on the phone while mowing and like you mentioned could be folded when stored away. Super light as well.

However since I have a truck, I don’t mind hauling a gas jug. Heck sometimes I haul a gas jug in my Prius. I hauled that Ego mower in the trunk of my Prius from Home Depot and even put it in the trunk of the Prius to go mow someone’s yard. I loved that ego mower but not enough to buy 2nd battery. My Honda gas mower is powerful. I can it mow it whenever. I can mow twice off a full tank using self propel on max speed. But it is super heavy!!

An anti EV and battery powered person wouldn’t even attempt to give battery powered equipment and EVs a shot. I tried the ego weed eater as well.

On a different note, I've seen more iX recently. Not sure why but it doesn't look as bad as I first saw it.

I powered washed my fence using a gas power washer. Powerful but running out of gas was no fun. Now I use an electric power washer. I even use it to wash my vehicles. I love it!!

I have a Ryobi that came with 2 40V 60Ah batteries. If buying the batteries on their own, you can get ripped off. $449 Here's a mower that comes with those same 2 batteries: $499 Why anyone would buy just the batteries at that price is beyond me. If you have patience, you can buy the batteries on sale. I already had a set of those that I used with my blower. They were around $200 and I have seen that sale from time to time last year. They should last at least 5 years when properly stored and maintained. I have a couple lower amperage batteries that came with various other Ryobi tools, that are still good after 7 - 8 years. I killed a couple of my very first ones, by leaving them in my non heated garage for a few winters. I now store them in my basement.

My old Honda gas mower was almost $1k when I bought it in 2014. Besides the normal maintenance, it required a new shift lever and the drive cable kept coming loose and needed repair. I was happy to get rid of it.

I wouldn't charge them rent either.

How big is your yard? Just get a second battery or a larger capacity battery. Why would you be unable to use the self propel?

A second battery is $100 . If you mow every 5 days and you get two mows out of a tank you need to get gas 3 times a month in the summer...why would that be better than just having two batteries plugged in and charged every time you needed to mow?

Sounds to me like you bought it and then convinced yourself it was no good.

1/2 acre. Takes little over an hour give or take to mow. Self propel uses battery so I couldn’t mow on 1 charge using self propel.

At the time a 7.5mh battery was like $300. I know that’s what my friend paid for his battery.

I don’t mow every 5 days but with the Ego I had to because I water my grass so it grows pretty fast.

With the gas mower I mow as needed and don’t worry if I miss a cut (grass gets taller than usual)

If my yard was smaller, I would still have it. My friend recommended it to me. He can mow, weed eat and blow his entire yard in 45 min. It takes me at least 30-45 min to weed eat/edge my yard.

Home Depot has a 90 day return period. I returned it on the 90th day. Trust me I loved it but refused to buy an extra battery for $300. Maybe could’ve bought a smaller battery for cheaper. Still would’ve been around $1000 for a mower and batteries which is more than I wanted to spend.

If you bought it at Home Depot it wasn’t an Ego. Egos are sold exclusively at Lowe’s.

I think your issue here was really in your head. You said you also had an Ego trimmer…it came with another battery that would also work in your mower.

It takes me 45 minutes to mow mine and doesn’t even take 1/2 the battery using the self
propelling.

Why would you need to mow more often with the gas mower. Mowed is mowed.

This was 4yrs ago before Ego was sold in Lowe’s and was sold at Home Depot. I didn’t have the ego trimmer the same time I had the ego mower. I believe the trimmer came with a 2.5mah battery. I used it WOT and I drained that battery pretty quick. I learned that afterwards.

I had to mow often with the ego. Because as you know, if it encounters thick grass it will rev up which would use more battery. As I was returning it a guy asked me why I was returning and I told him I loved it but my yard is a little too big for 1 charge but it’s perfect for someone with a smaller yard or someone who doesn’t want to deal with gas. I recommended it to one of my friends who bought the trimmer/blower package.
