When I ordered my X7 it took a little over a month to get since they are all built in South Carolina. Once it started production it was amazingly fast how quick it was finished. My M340 took an extra three weeks to get since it was built in Germany.

Also note that your "build week" is when production is expected to be completed, not when it starts.
Thanks for the explanation. I may be off by a week or so. When I get a chance, I'll double check my information.

My order is for another X3 so it will be coming from SC too. So delivery to the Chicago area shouldn't take too long if no unusual delays. We considered doing the Performance Center Delivery, but the timing didn't work out.

I hope they treat you good and throw in some merch!

At least a tshirt or something!
Once the VIN is assigned to the car you can check the status and progress of the build as it goes along. There's a site called My BMW where you can see the information.
I am guessing all I'll get from the dealership will be a handshake and a smile - No merch lol.

It's S(drive)40i. You must have thought S for 5. But I don't blame you. This thing (front) just looks weird. X6/4 (back) also looks weird. I can't see how some drop this much chunk of money to drive something like this around.

As biased as it can be, I think I have to give it to the LCI X5.

You are not wrong. X7's legrooms are virtually identical to X5's, which is ridiculous for a car this size. GLE, RX or even Model Y.. are way better/more comfortable. To be exact, 2nd legroom is only 0.2 inch more than X5's. It may feel "more spacious" because it can recline as standard where it's not on standard X5.

That's cool Bob.

Over the weekend when I took the pic of the BMW in the first post, I was picking up a pizza.

It was my wife's birthday and she wanted Outback and I wanted Annies. Lol

Outback is a distance a way and I was working so I had it delivered.

I've never ordered food delivered from a 3rd party but it was pretty cool.

I got a text that my order was processed, then another when it was ready, then another that the driver was on the way, etc.

I was thinking your BMW order was going like that since you said you were getting updates, but was only a guess. Lol

Thank you for lifting me up.
I thought I was imagining things.

Or, losing my mind... lol

Ps, for anyone wondering how I can do my job with bad vision- I wear a jewlers head piece for regular work and slide to the microscope for the really small & delicate stuff.

Honestly, I don't see the LCI X5 as being an improvement over pre-LCI. I think the new front fascia is particularly disappointing. So many unrelated angles and shapes. Like, what's with the weird rectangular shape along the bottom of the front fascia? It does not related to any of the other graphical features on the front. - I mean, I suppose the edges of it sorta line up with the edges of the headlights, but it just feels forced somehow - sort of like all the rectangular shapes on the M2.

Sadly, I do think it is still one of the better-looking BMWs on sale overall. It has good proportions and less-fussy design than some others.

I do like our X3 as well, particularly the non-M-Sport version.

I didn't say it was an improvement. I was replying to the statement about X7 being the least bad looking BMW. The only positive thing about LCI X5 IMO is the taillight but US does not get yellow blink and blinking speed is weird too fast. So it's not a good thing after all.

I think the blinking speed is a thing on every BMW I've driven. They are weirdly fast compared to other vehicles.

Congrats on the order - unfortunately there will be many features still missing vs your previous one as BMW has continued to remove features while raising prices.

They also have completely neutered the exhaust sounds on all cars including M and Mperformance models.

Yeah they added a fading effect that was complicated by U.S. regulations on lighting. The Euro version works as intended.

Thanks. Passenger side lumbar is still missing. Kick to open tailgates were missing, but I think they are back to being included. I can't think of anything else off hand, but I'm sure I'll find out before too long.
