Not sure why but it does. Imo
Its all of the black in the trim and front, and also the bulkiness of the vehicle. Its just a car that looks better in dark colors for sure, this is the spec I would get:

Carbon black (which is a very dark blue)with the chrome grille (without the M Sport Performance package)

Hmmm...
Carbon black sounds good but not sure how that would look with a hint of blue in person.

Limo black, oh yeah! Lol

Any car that has to be black to look good is just a bad design which the new 7 definitely is.

Surprisingly my mom who saw the car, said the other day what is this new BMW, it looks amazing. They have the new w223 Sclass and have grown to hate it due to interior cost cutting and some issues.

Styling is definitely in the eye of the beholder but the new 7 clearly makes a statement if nothing else. Personally I don’t think there is even 1 good styling element on it especially compared to the Sclass.

A lot of people love it, I think I might love it...

Yeah I am very concerned about swapping my 222 for a 223, what are the issues they have had?

#1 issue is interior quality. From materials to fit/finish. They also don’t like the seats on the new one. Some rattles.
#2 is the tech. This is mostly due to their age and not being proficient in tech features. The left their key inside and got locked out. App wouldn’t work to open it, the previous car didn’t do this. Trouble with settings like auto folding of mirrors which I believe now is tied to user profiles. Basically way too much unnecessary tech.
#3 They had tire blowout - car was stranded. These are not runflats.
#4 Spoiler is not attached properly on right side.
Also had some service stuff that was done which i don’t recall now.

Previously they had 2 different W222 which were great.

What is this syndrome called? I know you mentioned red car syndrome. This is kind of similar. The more you look at something/someone, you'll notice something positive and negative things also become less noticeable. I guess I need to pay attention more to the i/x/7 because I still think they look ugly. There are quite a good number of new X7s around here but I think I saw 7 once or twice this year. Is it possible people (soccer moms) do not care much about appearance because they are in it for the utilities? S is always dominant but this time around, S is just way more dominant, at least around here. I think I said it before. I used to think the previous one looked better but recently I think the new S looks really nice. I must have paid attention more to it.

Yeah, I can see and have heard all of that. I sat in a low package S500 yesterday without nappa leather etc, and it was not impressive at all inside. Have to have the exclusive nappa...theirs is a 500 right?

No runflats? thats weird. All the 223s I have seen are runflats...

The new 7 blows the 223 away inside. Its truly excellent.

Not saying I’m going to buy it, just saying I think I love the style of it. Still love the style of the S580 too

We were very close to getting carbon black with tartufo interior but changed our mind close to the end. With my kids I just didn’t feel like the tan interior would work but I really like how the carbon black looks black when not in direct sun and then shows blue when in direct sun.

A lot of Metallic and Pearl paint jobs are like that. They are darker or more dull in the shade, but then really spring to life in the sunlight.

Nope, carbon black is different, much different and darker than your typical blues. That picture above is where the sun is directly shining on it and doesn’t look that light in person.
