Default c7 vs c8 corvette

i haven't warmed to the exterior design of the new mid engine c8 corvette.

yet when i see a nicely done c7 like this one the other day i still think it's beautiful.

Agreed.....IMO no question the C7 looks better.

And, from my own experience in both test-drives and from friends of mine owning them, mid-engine vehicles tend to have some quirks that front-engine vehicles usually don't. It can be harder to keep the engine cool. Storage space, even with two mini-trunks front and back, can be very tight. The 2-seat interiors are generally very cramped. And, with the center of gravity back behind the driver and the steering wheel, even with proper wheel alignment, they tend to wander somewhat left and right in a straight highway lane while cruising, particularly in a crosswind. Where they usually shine the most is on winding twisting roads, where the aft center of gravity produces instant steering response, almost to the point of being darty.

No question a mid engined car is more exotic, it just doesn’t look and feel like a Corvette to me

yea i'm def in the C7 boat too... when i see a C8 there's a brief moment of OOH is that a (ferrari? huracan?) followed by oh right the corvette looks like that now... no disrespect to the corvette lol but there's different tiers of excitement levels reserved for different tiers of cars

personally the C6 Z06 is still my fav in terms of looks:

I have not driven the C8 but the C7 did not really impress me much, had some time with GrandSport and Z06 versions.

The interior of the C8 is MUCH nicer and it also has way more presence on the road. Unless you need a manual- C8 is the superior car.

The better decision is to get a 911 if you can pay a bit more.

To me the Corvette has its own appeal. I doubt anybody cross shops a Corvette and a 911.

C8 is a good looking car it just doesn’t look like a Corvette.

C7 all the way for me, the vette is a RWD front mid engine car not this wannabe supercar thing. Plus you have so so so much more options with the C5/6/7s for track builds

c8 is technically better, sure, but i just think it's pretty ugly and the back end is gigantic compared to the skinny front.

At first I really liked the C8, but after a while the coolness wore off. I definitely prefer the C7 and C5 Z06/FRC over it. I also prefer the C6 over it as well.

The C8 is incredible though.

There have been comparisons between Corvette and 911 going back decades. Many people own or have owned both.

Both have long history with diehard fans and strong aftermarket support.

I agree the C8 has some awkward angles especially the rear with the Camaro tailights.

The interior though is a Huge step up over C7 in terms of seats, material quality, tech, gauges etc.

The C7 has very lazy inputs mostly catered to its client base of older gentleman. I was shocked how loose the steering was with no feel. It also doesn’t give much stability at high speeds.

For the $$$ - the C7 is a bargain.
I think all the Corvettes going back to C1 have aged great and really stand out on the road.
