There have been comparisons between Corvette and 911 going back decades. Many people own or have owned both.
Both have long history with diehard fans and strong aftermarket support.
Just because they have owned both doesn’t mean they chose between both. People set out to buy a 911 or buy a Corvette. These are capstone cars, not a lot of cross shopping people know what they want.
I agree the C8 has some awkward angles especially the rear with the Camaro tailights.
The interior though is a Huge step up over C7 in terms of seats, material quality, tech, gauges etc.
The C7 has very lazy inputs mostly catered to its client base of older gentleman. I was shocked how loose the steering was with no feel. It also doesn’t give much stability at high speeds.
For the $$$ - the C7 is a bargain.
I think all the Corvettes going back to C1 have aged great and really stand out on the road.
Oh now come on lol! You can't compare the steering and precision of a 911 to a stock vette, stock vettes are sloppy as hell
Interior was never great in any corvette other than the current one, the C5 was a freaking plastic bin inside. One of the worst interiors I've been in for what the rest of the car is

Not true, they get cross shopped. I know multiple people who have done so and even my dad can't decide if he wants a C8 Z06 or 911TS next year.
Now there ARE some people who only dream of one or the other but they usually can't afford ether until way latter in life if at all. My best friend wants a vette but now that I've exposed him to German stuff it's undecided for him as well.
Personally I would never want a 911 since its too few cylinders for the price and I don't like the looks of them much. They drive amazing and are very capable and my record for fastest I've been in a car is held by one but I have no personal interest in owning one.
I knew I didn't want to spend 911 money, but I definitely cross-shopped the C8 and 718.
A substantial number of Corvette sales come from people who want 911 performance at a much lower price. A 'Vette may not equal the 911's fit/finish or build quality, but will go head-to-head with an equivalent 911-version on the road. It will also cost far less to service and repair once the warranty is out.
The Vette is still a screaming value...I'm astonished how inexpensive they are when I see one with a window sticker
The dealerships aren't dumb....they know that, and that's why you see those big ADM-stickers on them. Still, even with those mark-ups, they are usually well below a 911's price.
I'm not sure I see the need for three different grays, two different blacks, and two different bright Electric-Blues, but at is what the marketers have come up with.
Although it is not a classic sports-car color, I like the Cactus-Sage-Green near the bottom....always has a classy look no matter what vehicle it is on.

Go on Corvette forums and Rennlist - many folks compare these cars and have both of each. There are even ton of well known Youtubers that have both lol
They get cross shopped all the time especially now that C8 went mid-engined and is more expensive.
The C8 Z06 is on wishlist of many Porsche owners as well.

Its funny you mention this - I vividly remember going to major Corvette dealer and the had bunch of C7s brand new so I sat in several. The smell of the interior due to plastics i guess is very unique and definitely not a pleasant one. The new C8 that I checked out thankfully didn’t have any weird smell and on the surface the interior is really good.
Both greens are nice but I’m liking that (subdued)? off white/light grey/soft light blue color, whatever they call it. AGV makes a helmet in that shade that looks great, almost creamy.
IMHO, C6 & C7 are better grand tourers with classic proportions (more storage, more affordable, great performers, and LS3 C6s are just incredible bargains these days)
But the C8s are superior sports cars with nicer interiors. That said, GM really needs to go crazy on the C8 color options -- taking a page out of Lambo or even Dodge's playbook for more bright, vibrant, and exotic offerings.
I think I prefer a C7, exterior-wise, but it is hard to ignore the mid-engine layout of the C8 as well as the DCT (unless I can learn to row my own gears on a 'Vette...).
