that's terrible. but since it looks like this happened 5 years ago, hopefully whatever he stole isn't useful today.

I think it just became public (unsealed). But the code he stole back then could be the "base" of some self driving tech from one or many Chinese EV companies

Apple in general is to blame why Android Chinese phone manufacturers took over the world. Dealing with Chine for cheap comes back very expensive. Who in their right mind employes Chinese citizens on very important positions? They turn rogue because they have to.

I don't know why but I find this hilarious and can't help it. lol

Big tech doesn't seem to have a problem stealing everyone else's data.
Really I am sorry but I find it... Uhm...I'm lost for words... haha

'big tech' isn't "stealing" everyone else's data, people are voluntarily giving up that data (even if they don't know they are because they don't understand or don't read the terms of service, which no one does) in exchange for free services. people can choose to learn how these services work and even choose not to use them. for example i have issues with certain social media and barely use them and in a very controlled way.

employees stealing intellectual property is a much bigger deal.

you work in tech, so if your knowledge is stolen and sent to another company and your work dries up, maybe you wouldn't find it so funny.
