I always consider it, I would like an SUV for several reasons but also like sedans for several reasons. I would like the high ride height, the ease of ingress and egress, the ability to go anywhere I want to go when I'm down in WV. I like the ride and feel of a sedan though, and I still think a sedan telegraphs a certain style that SUVs don't.
But, if I were to buy an SUV to replace my sedan I wouldn't buy something transverse/FWD, I would buy something on a real premium platform.
Don't want to get entangled in family-issues, but, from what you have told us in the past, it seems the real issue with an SUV or crossover in your family is talking your wife out of a minivan. She seems to love those Pacificas, and, frankly, despite their reputation for unreliability, I can understand why. In most cases, you simply can't beat a minivan for family-friendliness, and the Pacifica comes from the company that invented FWD minivans. I say FWD minivans, because the original RWD air-cooled/rear-engined VW Microbus was arguably the first true mass-produced minivan.

I was talking about if I was going to buy an SUV for me to drive to replace my S560 what I would consider. If that were the case then we would likely keep her in a van or get her something smaller and use my vehicle for family trips.
She doesn't love minivans, she likes the convenience of the sliding doors mainly and all the space so she can dramatically over pack. She would rather drive something smaller.
How about a Mercedes GLS 7-seater for Steve?
And Steve leases anyway.
Much better than a Lexus TX with a 2.4L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid in a FWD-base with short wheelbase and cheap single lower link front MacPherson strut suspension?

They're great they are just way more than I want to spend. Spec'ed the way I would be happy with it they're about $95k. I would like to keep it under $70,000. The FWD underpinnings don't bother me when its a family vehicle I won't be the primary driver of.
If money were no object I would just go get a GLS and call it done
Finally they gave a damn date. Poor communication on Lexus USA's part, to be so slow with that on both GX and TX, unlike Europe who were more prompt on May 11th with GX. 220D TX Interior Image 220D TX HERO Image
PLANO, Texas (May 23, 2023) – Style, comfort and luxury for all passengers. The first-ever Lexus TX will be revealed on June 8 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. #LexusTX
Both GX and TX will be revealed simultaneously then on June 8th.
Lexus continues closer to Infiniti's strategy of Nissan+. But the Lexus faithful will gobble these up! Finally a well-packaged 3-row and the power hybrid (with geared automatic) and plug in hybrid will be great to have available.
Looks like 3rd row might be 2-passenger 50/50 set up vs Grand Highlander 3-passenger 60/40 fold. Also don't love the cup holder on the ground in the middle row pass through, but it's better than putting a full size console there. Families will appreciate the pass through more, even with the cupholder tray on the ground

Lexus will eventually dominate the large luxury fwd crossover. Hyundai should make a Genesis version of the Telluride
