ok you previously said most crossovers are 6 seats so was a bit confused.
Thats accurate, especially in the luxury space if you look at the top configurations of most of them, most of them are a captains chair configuration, thats what I should have said more clearly. Some are 6 or 7 depending on how the third row is set up.
Telluride and Palisade for example in top trims are only available with captains chairs, same with the Aviator and Explorer, if you look at MB GLS and BMW X7s most of them on lots are captains chairs.
Limited gas is 8 seats optional. Limited hybrid is 7 only.
Looks like Limited is the only trim they do that. Not sure why. As I said, the Platinum is 7 seats whether you get the gas one or the hybrid. Your assertion that you are limited to 7 seats on the hybrid Highlander is not correct, as you can get 8 seats on the XLE AWD Hybrid.
Yes they do. Limited and Platinum Highlanders are 7 seaters in hybrid trim. The base 2WD hybrid model is an 8 seater. (Haven’t looked at mid grade)

I had never said you are limited to 7 seats on all hybrids.

Cool, we're in agreement.
My point was simply that I see no reason to assume they will limit the number of seats on a TX hybrid as they allow the maximum seating arrangement on several trims of the Highlander Hybrid. Time will tell I guess.
I am sure the TX500H+ will be a 6 seater. Batteries add weight which reduce cargo payload capacity. Charge more…for less seats.. amazing

My original comments about 6 seats was based on the TX550h+ If you look how Toyota packages the Lexus RX. The heaviest vehicle is the 500h, it goes up in weight from 350 to 350h to 500h. It is a 500lb difference from the regular gas compared to the 500h with e-axle. I assume this will the same way of packaging. So as you add batteries, you add mass…my assumption is that Toyota will have 6 seats in the highest trim as that is their rationale to help save on weight as well as cargo capacity. As you add more and more features and amenities, they will have to find a way to help offset the battery mass addition.
