Question vancouver: new windshield help

So over the weekend the little rock chip that was in my windshield grew to a nice long crack. I left the car behind my store because the roads were quite bad and my friend w. his audi insisted he wanted to drive me so i said sure.

I either need to have the winshield fixed (if possible) or replaced. Anyone on here have a connection to a good glass place? I'm not using insurrance because I think we all know how i feel about that, so i'll just pay.

thx guys

you sure?

insurance = $300 deductible

pay out of own pocket = a heck lot more.

see if u can go to the dealer to get it done. most dealers will want to get it done in house, thus buying from the own company, a real lexus windshield. to basically make the sale of the windshield, they are willing to match the price allowed by icbc.

last time i called Port Moody Lexus, they dont do it inhouse
they do the paperwork for you and get it done somewhere else

but i dont remember which place they use

its better to go straight to an auto glass shop to save time if you are doing it through insurance
and to save money if you are not doing it through through insurance

depending on the dealer u go thru, they may or may not do it in house...
depending on the price of jobber (aftermarket) glass, and the price of OEM glass, the dealer may or may not be able to (or want to) match the price...

just call speedy and ask them how much it costs to have a genuine one installed...

I had my windshield replaced at Broco $400 cash. They dont carry OEM windshields but wutever unless ur super pick about the little lexus sign in the corner who cares. one from lexus is WAY more. The price also included a rubber replacement molding. Now with the IS's I'm not sure is that possible. Because most OEM windshield moldings are metal framed and 95% of the tine when they take the windshield out the molding cannot be reused if you can get away with a rubber molding they're like 40 or so but if u need the metal one from dealer definitely a few hunnies for sure
