Default Check out this cool Carbon Fibre living room accessory

So what do you all think of my cool living room accessory?

SEIBON CF hood (OEM style)! I guess I am the first on CL with one of these? I waited 8 very looooooong weeks for this to come in.....

Quality is top notch! It looks almost like glass - that's how good the clearcoat has been applied on it. Shape of hood is identical to OEM hood. It simply looks amazing in person!!!

When I decided to buy it, I was really concerned about the quality of it because of the affordable price (I paid CAN$640 - taxes and delivery all included). But after talking to a couple of people that had seen the Seibon CF products, my apprehension and concern was completely unfounded.

Edges are very smooth, no rough edges at all. It is very light as expected. I don't have an accurate electronic scale to weigh it, but using my digital stand on scale it shows it as weighing 15 lbs.

And some close up shots

It is so freaking beautiful, I am now torn between leaving it as is versus painting the sides.......

Just looking at the hood by itself (not on the car), I want to leave it as is and not cover up the sides with silver.

I guess I should install it and see what it looks like on the car, but right now I am so not tempted to paint it anymore.

CF looks really amazing in person!!!

I thought the same on my IS300 and once you get it on it'll take about 3 days and you'll realize you want to paint the sides. It looks so much better with them painted.
I love my Seibon hood ive had it around 2 years now with no hood pins at all and its still as tight as it was the day i got it.

That's great to hear! I am dreading drilling holes in that flawless finish for the pins. The latch appears very sturdy.

It is clear coated just like the paint on your car. You wash and wax it exactly the same way you wash your car. Very simple!

The clear coat is so obvious when you are looking at the hood because it has very noticeable depth and shine to it. When you rub your fingers over it, you don't feel the CF weave, you just feel the ultra smooth butt of a baby!

MAke sure you use a coaster for those drinks

Maybe drive around like that for awhile, then paint it should you get bored.
However, wouldn't painting it make it heavier?

I got it locally here in Canada, however there is a vendor on CL that is selling the same hood - MVP Motorsports https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=257537

Yes, I got some rubber padded CF mats for the drinks.

I guess painting would make it heavier by a bit. But realistically speaking the GS400 is too much of a pig for this lightweight hood to make any difference anyway.

I mainly bought it for the cosmetic beauty of CF and weight second.
